Getting weeds out between patio blocks is a breeze. I read some complaints about how you hold it versus how you think you should use it. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it. Most people would want to use the little hook to scratch but if you point the hook up and use the front edge that is sharpened, you push a few inches into the ground and pull up with the hook on the way out. Got rid of some reoccurring dandelion and thistles by finally getting the main root. This is right handed, but despite being left handed, I can use it.
For prospecting this is a great crevice tool for digging out those stubborn rocks as you can get behind stuck gravel and really pull on them!
