No more "stinks under the bed"! All "stinks in boxes"!! Happy Cat Mom!

No more "stinks under the bed"! All "stinks in boxes"!! Happy Cat Mom!
We added a kitten to our family. It took some time for her to settled in and make friends with our older cat, who is .. well older.. and slow.. and a bit impatient with the spazmanian devil that is the kitten. The kitten is a rescue and was still a little unsure of herself and spooked easily. Somehow this led to pooping under just 1 bed - our bed, a few times a day! A vet appt to clear any medical issues and it was chalked up to stress or litter preference. I need to add... this Kitten's "stinks"... well, they are on par with some of the worst smelling animal butt-stink smells I've ever smelled. I don't know why, the Vet says some just are stinkier than others, but seriously, like these are next level super stinks!! And the smell amplifies when NOT in the litter box and especially when directly under the bed you are sleeping in. You see what we were up against??We tried literally every litter on the market and even just a pee-pad. None seemed to have any effect, she used them all equally and without prejudice. As time went on, she gained confidence but the nightly wake ups to realizing she'd "made a fresh stink under the bed" continued, even tho she would use the box during the day. At our wits end - we made the decision to try this, hoping it was just a hard habit for her to break. BOTH cats sat around the 1 (of 5) litter boxes to which I used only this. They stared, they got in, they pawed about, they got out, they hissed at each other over who could be closest but not quite do anything. Course I was sitting there, intrigued and they were probably not wanting an audience (not like they give ME the same courtesy). Eventually the MAGIC happened, both cats used it and now it's the ONLY box they use unless it hasn't been scooped, then with disdain and likely future murder plans in their tiny heads they will use another box without it. Since that 1st day there hasn't been a single "stink under the bed" only "stinks in the box" now. I've got more on the way!! This stuff is great!!!Onto the fine print - obviously my cats LOVE this stuff, but how does Mom feel about it? Well, it's the consistency of most clumping litters, a little more course than say Arm & Hammer, but not as rough as a crystal litter. It has its own "odor" which I assume is what keeps the kitties going back to it. It does cover THEIR smells well, even if I miss a day of scooping, but when up close, its own odor isn't the most pleasant. I don't believe it carries throughout the house, but just be ready to be... "human" confused by its scent and trust it's there for a good reason. Finally, if you're buying this, you're obviously a cat owner (or a really strange people, but that's not for this post), so can I say it WILL work for you? No, I can't, that would be silly as cats are more finicky about everything and change their minds more than me! But I do hope if you've got a healthy kitty that for some reason or other just isn't into their litter box, you'll give this a try and I hope it works as well for you as it clearly did for us.

We were having a lot of pee accidents with our newly adopted kitten. I’ve tried two other brands and she’s still prefer to do her business anywhere besides her litter box.

On recommendation we switched to the kitten litter and things changed immediately.. There's no perfumes, it’s pleasant natural smell and small grains are perfect for kittens.

This stuff clumps immediately and is easy to scoop and dispose of in a trash receptacle. The value is good, and it’s a better option than overly scented clay litter products that could bother kittens.

I’ve had zero issues with cleaning the litter box since using this product. The low dust is amazing and a may under the litter box will collect any litter that remains in the kittens paws when they hop out of the litter box.

This by far is the best quality litter I’ve ever used.

Alright, so I absolutely HATE kitty litter, so much that I trained my older cat to use the toilet since he was a young cat. However, my new kitten just can't grasp the toilet concept no matter what I try, so I finally gave in and got a robo Kitty Litter... while that works great, my little turd of a kitten has had a couple of accidents (peeing only) even though he's next to the robo-litter box. I figured it's the texture of the actual litter he hates. Plus, I have 3 floors so he's recently started to have a couple of "accidents" upstairs and not going into the basement robo litter box - thus I needed to add another cat litter on the top floor (no robo-litter box, just a regular faux plant cat litter box).

Anyway, I tried every kitty litter you that's out there on the market: pellets, flushable, mulchy kind, Pretty Litter, Crystal one, - you name it. I even the Sustainably Yours Cat Grain Formula - and while it does well on smell, it clumps waaayyy too much and you have to change out the box more often. And while the pretty & crystal littler looks nice it doesn't absorb the smell and it turns the litter box yellow/green (vastly different than its original color (blue/white). It's just gross.

Finally, after so much research I decided to try Dr. Elsey's Premium Clumping Cat Litter. OMG, it's a game changer. It works so well, that I think I finally will stop trying new litter and stick to this one as my main one. I was afraid that it would have that clay litter effect, where's it's just gross but holy crap, no. It clumps very fast, and very well, There's no smell (but then again I do have a Cat genie next to my upstairs Faux Plant Cat Litter Box. It's definitely a game changer. The only downfall is that it is HEAVY.... I mean... heavy - but, so worth it. My little turd hasn't had any accident since using this new litter.

As the title says, I'd love to gatekeep only b/c you know supply and demand drives the prices up, but I can't. It's that much of an amazing product that hopefully someone reads this, relates to my original dilemma a and can help resolve their challenge.

I have been fostering kittens since 2018 and a devoted user of Dr. Elsey’s kitten attract litter. It has a very fine grain that works well for tiny paws. Those attractants really are magic, drawing the kittens in (sometimes my adult cat will even sneak in to use their boxes despite having one all to himself). The majority of the kittens I foster are orphans and while litter box usage is mostly instinctual, having a quality litter definitely sets them up for success.
It clumps well for both feces and urine. I recommend this to all the other fosters and anyone adding a new kitten to their home.

Our cats have liked this litter since they were little (and prefer it still over their other varieties), so I'm still buying it. I am a fan of the smaller grained litter - it scoops/sifts easier, I think.
The downside is the cardboard box. While I applaud the recyclable idea, these boxes always leak some sand, which is super annoying. Another packaging issue is the handle - I have had several just tear off of the box, which makes them a pain to carry, pour, etc.

Edit #2: Changed to 5 stars. All 6 cats are using it consistently! It's expensive, but it lasts a really long time with consistent cleaning and topping off with fresh litter every couple of days. I'm impressed.

Edit #1: 4 stars. 1 of the 2 stubborn kittens is now using the box after a week. Not only that, but their mother who has been eliminating outside of the box for over a year, onto clothes, towels, anything available, has started using the box with this kitten litter! The last kitten is still being stubborn, she's still eliminating all over the place, so it's not 100%.

Awesome clumping, decent odor control, easy to keep clean, low dust. It's good stuff but overpriced.

Original review: 1 star. I have 4 kittens, 11 wks old, and their parents. 2 of the kittens refuse to use the box, no matter what I use or how many times I put them in it, even if they're already in the process of elimination, they still run out and do it elsewhere. This litter is not working!

Was feeling apprehensive about litter training my kitten (8 weeks) but should not have worried. She has taken to it using this litter without any intervention from me. What a relief. I felt it is a bit pricey but if this continues it will be well worth it and if the advice on the box is correct, that you only need to replace the whole box monthly I will be very impressed.

Easy to use. And delivery good.

Long may it continue 😊
