I needed a temporary support bar in the shower. After looking through various models available I decided on this one. After reading several other reviews I almost didn't purchase but am glad that I ignored those. Let me start off by saying that if you need a full body weight support do not even consider any brand or make of the suction cup style. If you do you are setting yourself up for false security and potential future injuries. Due to a broke ankle I just needed a stabilizing support bar as I get in and out of the shower. I found out through trial and error that the suction cups hold like super glue if installed correctly. Don't put over any seams, cracks, or tile joints. This will allow air to seep in and release the suction. I have 4" tiles and found out that by angling the bar I could get each end fully in the middle of the tile. To fully seal pull the little lever up and then push the bar in before setting the lever back. It will get really hard to set the lever back down but believe me if you do this way the suction is super strong and will hold up. Next thing before each use is to test the bar by pushing sideways and pulling. If the suction has let loose a little bit this will tell you. I've only had to reset the bar twice since I had been using it over the last month. Since I cleaned the tile that it sets on and push in on the handle before setting the lever it hasn't released. Lastly, while trying to figure out exactly where to place I had one side stuck good and the opposite side not. I can easily see trying to get the really stuck side loose by just manhandling it off but if suction is strong you will break the cup off (another reviewer posted pictures of this). I find this is a good product if installed and used correctly.

I attached this to the wall in my one-piece stall shower and it grips well. It's been there for several weeks now and shows no sign of loosening. Given the fact that's it's a suction grip, I would recommend using it more for balance than to support your full weight, although it seems strong enough to do so.

I bought this to give me a little extra support after hip surgery as my shower doesn't have a handle. It's easy to install and does this job well. This is not meant to hold your entire weight so you can't rely on it to pull yourself up, but it's great to help keep your balance. I would recommend measuring your tile distance if you want to put this in a tiled shower. It stays well but is easy to remove and move around if needed.

Update no. 2 on 5/16/2024: I'm very pleased with the durability of this bar. I've now had it in our shower for 18 months (as of next week), and I can count only 4 times that it has fallen off the wall. Three of those occasions were after I had cleaned the shower surround and, I think, I'd not replaced it firmly. The last time was because I needed to clean the shower surround (my bad). The springs, as far as I can tell, are holding up well and help to maintain a good suction. The last bar purchased for my loved one was from a different manufacturer and had only lasted about a year; it was not maintaining strong suction and falling off the wall multiple times a week. This bar, by comparison, has outperformed our experience with other suction bars we have purchased to date.

Update 10/24/2023: We've had this suction grab bar for nearly a year. I think it has fallen a maximum of maybe 3 times, but those happened AFTER I had cleaned the shower surround and I think I did not firmly reattach the bar in those instances. The springs have held up well. The bar helped make showering so much easier for my loved one with neuropathy. I've even found it handy for myself when dealing with mild vertigo for a short spell. One additional benefit I've observed after a year of use is that the smaller diameter of the grip portion of the bar is well-suited for those of us with smaller hands/shorter fingers than some of the other grip bars. For balance, this has been a solidly helpful aid.

I bought this to replace the Carex suction grab bar my family member had been using for about a year; the springs were no longer functioning properly and the bar kept popping off the shower surround wall even after cleaning and using alcohol wipes). I wanted something that would be relatively secure with good sturdy springs, as my family member has balance issues due to neuropathy in his feet and legs, and has trouble with his balance. Also, my family member was coming home after an extended time in the hospital and a skilled nursing facility for physical rehabilitation, and I was concerned that he might even try to use the bar to help get up and down from the shower chair. I'm happy to say that, so far, this grab bar has served my family member's needs well, had held secure and has not loosened or popped off once in the entire time we've had it. I do check it regularly and have been impressed with its hold. The diameter of the bar is a bit smaller than the ones we've previously used, which actually makes it easier to grasp and hold. My family member has remarked several times how much he likes the 16-inch length (longer than prior bars we've used) and the bar's strong hold. As we are unable to install permanent safety rails in the studs because we rent, the Safe-er-Grip Bar has served as a solid alternative.

Very good product…has a strong hold. So I ordered a second one for our second bathroom but didnt hold. The tiles in the second bathroom has a slight wave to it which eventually let in air and it fell off in the night. Only works on a completely flat surface. So we’re now stuck with the second one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong and sturdy, brilliant!
Reviewed in Australia on November 2, 2022
This handle is just fantastic! Bigger than I imagined, and the suction caps at the end are big and powerful. I was worried it would be flimsy but it definitely isn’t flimsy. It’s made well, the rubbery suction caps are thick and soft (not thin, hard and wrinkly like others), the handle itself if strong, and it has a rubbery grip to help you hold on to. When you lower the levers to attach the handle, they pull the suction caps in quite far and it makes the handle stick to the surface really well. These little levers are strong, too, and stay down in place when you need them to. I’m confident with the results and I also like the advice in the instructions that say to check the handle occasionally to make sure it is still attached securely. This is perfect for kids and adults, the large size means it can be attached in a way to suit anyone.
I bought this for my bathroom to attach to the glass surrounding the shower. I needed something for my kids to hold onto while stepping into the shower, and my teenage son has just had a hip operation so I really needed something to help make the wet areas safer. I wish I had bought one in sooner!! It’s so strong and great, it’ll definitely be put to good use for a long time.
