I did a lot of research on this speaker before purchasing and couldn’t find any reviews on it being used in a gym setting, so this is for all my gym’ers:
It’s great for a large gym setting…think your typical CrossFit box size. I have the base set at 50% and didn’t even hit 50% on my phone before not being able to hear anything over the sound. It has EXCELLENT clarity. I used my phone with AV cable to USB-C and the setup couldn’t have been easier: literally just plug it in and play. The bass is awesome. The 12 inch subwoofer placement really makes the sound whole. I do think I’ll end up buying the bass model, also, but that’s no reflection on this model. Bose really knocked it out of the park, I mean it’s really beautiful, clear sound, and the projection is amazing. I played around with the snapping array flat/down/up and it’s very easy, it truly does change not just the projection of the sound but the sound itself. I think if you have a pretty small garage gym in a neighborhood with houses on top of each other this speaker might be a bit too much to handle since you probably won’t be able to blast it.
Very mobile, I didn’t bother to pull out a tape measure on the dimensions, but it’s pretty compact. Not some huge, cumbersome thing.
The only other thing I wanted to add was to the seller — first of all the warranty IS valid, I know someone else wrote theirs wasn’t, mine was. They also delivered it very, very quickly. I think I had it under 36 hours after ordering it.

For extended bass

A mounting stand for the loudspeaker is integrated right into the body of the subwoofer, so you always know where it is, making setup fast and easy. The stand even includes cable channels to neatly hide the wires.
Quality performance
Engineered with a flexible array of eight high-output mid/high drivers, a high-powered 30.48 cm woofer, a lower crossover point and 1,000-watt amplifier, the loudspeaker delivers high SPL performance while maintaining vocal and midrange clarity that’s dramatically better than conventional loudspeakers.
How it works
The eight drivers on the F1 Model 812 Flexible Array loudspeaker are mounted on a specially designed flexible baffle. Simply push or pull the array into position to create four vertical coverage patterns: 'Straight,' 'J,' 'Reverse J' or 'C.' Once set, the system automatically changes the EQ to maintain optimum tonal balance for each unique coverage pattern.
