I eat a lot of meat based dishes, goat, mutton, chicken and lamb and therefore THIS is extremely handy and a staple for my kitchen! I usually wrap the chicken in saran wrap and then use the flat side to beat it - this seriously cuts my meal prep time in half and since I might be on an onset of a carpel tunnel syndrome, it makes my life easier! I used to use my sister's hammer look alike meat tenderizer which did the job but was super heavy which im glad this is not but just the right weight. Buy it if you cook meat a lot! Oh & you can also hang it up.

This is just as great as the high reviews say it is! I used to have the ones you can find in stores, but the metal on those goes dark gray after being in the dishwasher, and it just seems poisonous at that point. :-b This meat mallet is lightweight yet sturdy and feels great in the hand, it's stainless steel and easy to clean and wash - and dishwasher safe, and I like that the spiky side was not really spiky, but rather small round bumps. It does the same job of the spiky type mallets, but without tearing up the plastic wrap or paper that you cover the meat with while pounding it thin/or tenderizing. The quality of this product is great, and the price is about the same as products with much lower quality.

I had a hard time finding a meat tenderizer that was real stainless. This one is stainless. I was also worried that it would be a little small and too light, but it is well balanced, and weighty enough to work perfectly. I have used it to tenderize 1/2-inch to 3/4-inch steaks and to make beef jerky strips. This has worked on all kinds of beef cuts. The head of the hammer is very easy to clean as the "teeth" aren't too deep. I hand wash, but I imagine you could put it in the dishwasher too.

This is a nice heavy tenderizer that I got to replace a cheap light one that I've had way too long. I love how weighted the head is and how much easier that makes pounding out cutlets. I use this when making chicken-fried steak, cordon bleu, etc. With cutlets, it's still nice to use a jiccard meat tenderizer on them after. While the weight and overall design of this meat tenderizer is excellent, the circular loop that you're supposed to hang this with is oriented in the wrong direction. It should be parallel to the head of the tenderizer, so it doesn't point into your hand as you use this. Other than that, it's fantastic. One warm day, I'll probably cut the loop off and grind it down smooth, just to stop being aggravated by it. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

I love that one of the suggested questions for amazon reviews is, "What did you use this product for?" I used it for pounding my meat, of course!

"How easy is it to use?" - It's a hammer. It's a nice stainless-steel hammer with a rubberized grip and lanyard ring, but it's a hammer. It is quite literally the very first tool humans made when they figured out how to combine "stick" and "rock." If you can't figure out how to use a meat hammer to pound meat, then you need to stick to pounding meat by hand - do not create more like you.

But honestly, I really like it. I use it mostly for flattening chicken breast fillets to make chicken roulade. It works well and is just the right enough-kill-without-overkill size and weight for my tasks.

I make a lot of chicken based dishes and the one thing I detest is having tough meat that you have to chew forever. I had my old mallet for a long time, it was the kind where the head was detachable. It worked but was inconvenient as the head would come off and it was rather heavy. This mallet on the other hand is pretty prefect and I love how it feels in my hand. It doesn't slip and is not too heavy. It's been very effective, both for flattening and tenderizing. I have tiny drawers in my kitchen so I love that it has a hook that I can use to just hang it up.
