Overall I really like this shampoo. The smell is great, kind of herbal and citrus-y. I bought this product to help combat my Seborrheic Dermatitis (If you are unfamiliar with this, look it up; this is the actual cause of my dandruff- not dry scalp).

Update:
It's been over a year now, so I'm changing my review.
I have been using "Generic Value Products: Tea Tree Oil Shampoo" as my regular shampoo and this product as a two or three times a week supplemental shampoo. The combination is excellent. It is now very rare for me to have a really bad dandruff day.

I had been using Head & Shoulders ever since I was a kid, and although that got the flakes out, it never prevented nor reduced my dandruff from recurring. If I didn't wash my hair for a few days, I had immediate dandruff again. Also when using H&S after an outbreak, my scalp would flake badly for another day afterwards. Now, my tea tree oil shampoo keeps things pretty tame and I use this Avalon Organics product to provide extra nourishment for my scalp two to three times per week.

It took about two weeks for the shampoos to fully condition my scalp; but it's been more than a year now and my regimen really does work for me.

I bought this shampoo because many of the ingredients stood out to me as helpful for clearing hairline acne and forehead acne which recently developed. (I do not have dandruff). I have been using this as shampoo and as a wash on my hairline/forehead for acne. It does a good job on my forehead and helps control acne, but it caused several spots of small scabs on my head. This isn't a surprise. Most shampoos do this to me, apart from Renpure and Head/Shoulders Aloe. I decided to go back to my normal Renpure shampoo on my head, but still plan to use this shampoo around my forehead and hairline.
I am also not a huge fan of the smell. I can't place the smell, but I don't particularly like it. I am not a fan of camomile, but I don't think this smells like camomile, either.
I'm sure this is good for other people, but it doesn't particularly work for me.

I suffer from sebhorric dermatitis and sometimes it gets so bad that the flakiness extends to my temples ,eyebrows and even eyelids . Traditional dandruff shampoos with ketoconozole , coal tar etc do not work on me . The only product that worked was Phyto's Phytosilic dandruff treatment shampoo . But I've been unable to find it anywhere ( probably discontinued?) and also , it was very expensive for me . So while searching for a cheaper alternative , I came across the Avalon Organics Anti Dandruff Itch and Flake shampoo. When i looked up its ingredients(active ingredient 2% Salicylic acid) , i saw that they were very similar to the Phtyo shampoo and way more affordable . So I gave it a shot and I love it . When you apply the shampoo , there is a slight tingling of the scalp , which I like because in my mind , it shows that the product is working . It has a very medicinal , herbal smell to it . But the results with this was exactly the same as the Phtyto one . My flakes were gone from after just one wash . I highly recommend this product .

I sed this shampoo 3 times, and from the first time I used it my hair stated falling. I gave it the befit of the doubt and tired it a couple more times. In the third time I knew I should stop using the product.

So not only my hair started to fall like crazy, but also my hair got so dry, and looked so wierd, so my hair is “ was “ beautifully curled and very smooth and long, now it is so dry and messy, it’s like as if I tried to use some cheap hair straightener or something, I even had to go and get a hair cut because my hair got so damaged 😒. I just hope that the new hair grows like the way it always was and not the way this shampoo made it 🙏🏻
