Let me just preface this review with the fact that I don’t watch a ton of TV but when I do where I am and what I’m doing becomes a factor for which app or tv app I’m using. Apple TV is my traveling go to app and one of my favorite series is Foundation. It’s a riveting tale. It’s also more cost effective than Netflix and Hulu as far as price goes.However I do wish I didn’t have to sign up for Hulu in order to watch classics like Rick and Morty. There are obvious downsides to this app such as sending people to sign up for other tv apps instead of just streaming the content we’re looking for.I’m sure there has to be a perfectly good (legal) explanation for that and why they can’t just stream certain shows but it’d be great if streaming services traded sometimes or let you choose shows so you’re not paying for something you don’t watch. But I digress… overall decent travel tv app, very crisp clear video.

First, I'm not an Apple fan. Never have been, never will be. I do own an Amazon Fire TV Cube and I have an Apple account. Why do I have an Apple account? Because they FORCE you to have one if you want to subscribe to their Apple+ streaming service.

The streaming service itself is GREAT! Tons of really great shows, series, movies, documentaries ... name it, they got it! So why do I want to give their app ZERO stars? By the way, I'm NOT the only person who would give Apple ZERO stars!

Well, about a week ago the audio for every single show, series, movie, and documentary simply vanished. No more audio tracks in ANY of their programming streamed through my Amazon Fire TV Cube! Every other app (more than 20) installed on my Fire TV Cube produces perfect audio. Just NOT the Apple+ app!

The Apple+ app DOES produce perfect audio on my 4K Roku box, so I'm actually not missing ANYTHING. I just can't watch it on my Amazon Fire TV Cube because THERE'S NO AUDIO!

No surprise, but Amazon has ZERO control over the quality and performance of the apps from ANY of the streaming services. After you wade through the nearly endless list of suggestions to troubleshoot an app (via the Amazon Fire TV Cube support forum), their final suggestion is to "contact the app developers."

Seriously? Have you or do you know of ANYONE who has EVER successfully contacted ANY developer of ANY software product, much less anyone at Apple? Ain't gonna happen. EVER!

So, if you can't live without the Apple+ streaming service, buy a Roku box! They even sell them right here on Amazon, which is where I got mine!

To look for Directors cut extended cuts, especially the directors cat long version of Waterworld and postman Directors cut of the original 1984 Dune judgment day, terminator, two directors, cut, standby me directors, cut the big blue or what they would call LeGrande blue it’s a French print, but it’s a press I just find that prime video channels are as good as you and you have more access and control over the apps the square abs instead of using prime, and now it seems like that you know I figured Star Wars would be on Disney Star Trek would be on Paramount+ so on and so forth but it appears that they rent them out to other companies so everybody gets a cut so it makes you have to buy all the platforms which I think would be a good lawsuit for people like me that wanted to watch all the Star Wars stuff and all the DC stuff and Marvel on HBO only find out that half of it son on Disney and to find out half of us on other platforms just not right these networks are getting greedy

Mainly it's the content that should drive this usage and so far I'm liking what Apple TV has to offer. The app is ok in itself. However it has a rather big flaw: when you're done with an episode of a TV show, it will queue up the next episode and do a 10sec countdown and auto-play it. I'm fine with this.

The problem is trying to exit back to the main screen and looking at the season of TV shows and then selecting one specifically to play. Let's say that you watched episode 3 of something and wanted to go to the show listing to see how many more episodes are left in the season. Or, say you want to read about upcoming episodes. And then you want to go back and re-watch episode 2. The user interface doesn't cleanly allow you to do this. When you select your show, it tries to just pick up where you left off on that episode, or plays the next episode.

Update: got Apple+ “Free” for a year but + show doesn’t play beyond the free preview even though I’m signed into account (and able to view complete series on iPhone), worthless.
Review:
Won’t work on FireTV 3rd gen (the flat square one) the app downloads but won’t open, says: “unavailable”. Bought new FireTV Stick 4K and finally got it working after updating it with the latest FireTV software (hidden in main menu, settings, “my FireTV”, about, install system update) but before I found that fix, I had spent the whole day trying to get it to work. Restarts, reinstalls, wrong paths, (IE: AppleTV locked permissions for accessing storage on FireTV), google searches, Apple’s help page for AppleTV, Reddit, YouTube...etc, etc

After updating the FireTV software I found the AppleTV app is mostly just full of the same links to subscriptions for other services like HBO, Cinemax and such that Amazon offers. If you have shows and movies from iTunes you can access that content.
The Original content seems very good but is very limited as Apple is just starting in the business of producing original content.
If you’re recently bought an Apple device/product you can access AppleTV+ for a year.
Streaming is not very good yet. This is AppleTV with software version 1.1
Like most (Apple) software it will take many updates to get nice functionality.

The current problem is the shows randomly stop playing and there isn’t any option to use a better video viewer or to increase the buffer on their viewer.
In watching “SEE” season 1 episode 1, it played fine but s1e2 stopped playing 4 times. When it stops playing, it leaves you on a page that wants you to start the series over again. It took time hunting around the page to find the second episode again. It was frustrating as the app’s interface is kinda basic and not intuitive. It has a clean look but needs work to be on par with other well established offerings.
If I hadn’t gotten to try it for a year free, I wouldn’t have bothered with it.
So today it gets 1 star.

On a side note: Amazon’s 4K is awesome (aside from to little storage) the remote is far superior in controlling both TV and receiver.

Update: got Apple+ “Free” for a year but + show doesn’t play beyond the free preview even though I’m signed into account (and able to view complete series on iPhone), worthless.
Review:
Won’t work on FireTV 3rd gen (the flat square one) the app downloads but won’t open, says: “unavailable”. Bought new FireTV Stick 4K and finally got it working after updating it with the latest FireTV software (hidden in main menu, settings, “my FireTV”, about, install system update) but before I found that fix, I had spent the whole day trying to get it to work. Restarts, reinstalls, wrong paths, (IE: AppleTV locked permissions for accessing storage on FireTV), google searches, Apple’s help page for AppleTV, Reddit, YouTube...etc, etc

After updating the FireTV software I found the AppleTV app is mostly just full of the same links to subscriptions for other services like HBO, Cinemax and such that Amazon offers. If you have shows and movies from iTunes you can access that content.
The Original content seems very good but is very limited as Apple is just starting in the business of producing original content.
If you’re recently bought an Apple device/product you can access AppleTV+ for a year.
Streaming is not very good yet. This is AppleTV with software version 1.1
Like most (Apple) software it will take many updates to get nice functionality.

The current problem is the shows randomly stop playing and there isn’t any option to use a better video viewer or to increase the buffer on their viewer.
