This is marketed as a men's shampoo. I am not a man, but I am someone who has seen excessive amounts of stress have a negative impact on my hair, so I wanted to give this a try.

The scent is kind of odd - it's sort of like a mix of herbaceousness, cologne, and a little bit of citrus maybe. It is on the stronger side, but once the hair is rinsed and dried, it does dissipate a bit.

A little goes a long way in terms of lathering, which is good because the bottle is not very large and, in my view, it's quite expensive for what you get.

It does a decent job of cleaning my hair without leaving it feeling super-stripped and dried out. In terms of results, I can say that my hair seems a bit fuller after I use this shampoo. Have I noticed any actual thickening, growth, or anything of that nature? No.

I do have to say that the instruction to use this every single day seems like a gimmick designed to compel consumers to go through the product more quickly, thereby having to repurchase this shampoo at a relatively frequent rate.

So it's not a bad shampoo, and I can honestly say that it delivers some results, though they're not as noticeable as I'd like. I personally don't necessarily think it's worth the money, but other reviewers have had better experiences with it, so if the price isn't an issue for you, then I'd say that it's worth giving it a try.

 Due to age and possibly genetics and the world around me, I am slowly losing my hair and have already conducted a sufficient number of tests on my hair. What is the main conclusion I have made during this time? - None of the manufacturers promising hair growth through the use of gel shampoo or any other means helped me to increase the amount of hair on my head. This is certainly sad but not fatal. So this is what I want to say about this shampoo:
- of course, the next day and even a few days after using this shampoo, I did not see young sprouting shoots of hair on my head;)
- but at the same time, washing off the shampoo after several times of use, I noticed that the amount of falling hair has decreased and this undoubtedly pleases me;
- I usually use conditioner after shampoo to make it easier to comb my hair and make it more luxuriant. I specifically wash my hair with this shampoo and do not use conditioner. I see that the hair after drying is lush and lie well, but combing the hair is still difficult;
- I liked the smell of the shampoo. I would say it's a good smell of good men's cosmetics;
- I love how this shampoo lathers. The foam is very generous and soft lasts well for 3 ~ 5 minutes while I wash my hair and massage my scalp. The latter is very important if you are worried about falling hair. Massage increases blood circulation and is very beneficial.
I especially want to undo the design of the pump. It compares favorably with many other manufacturers. In order to avoid arbitrary pressing of the pump, it is enough to turn it to block it. And as you know, most pumps must be pressed for this, and this leads to the release of an additional dose of shampoo, which is inconvenient. Therefore, this bottle now walks with me to the gym.
I wish you to have healthy strong hair and a good hairstyle, take care of yourself and stay healthy!

My husband loves this shampoo! He actually asked me to buy more when the first bottle we got runs out. And that's saying something, given its $27 price tag! He's a thrifty guy, which tells me he honestly believes he's seeing results from this product. That's as good a review as one could hope for, I think!

Now in his early 40s, my husband has been experiencing some hair loss for the first time. It's kind of an all-over thinning situation. He's mostly good-natured about it but it's obviously an adjustment. I don't have thinning hair myself but I love the extra volume I get from thickening shampoos, so I suggested he try this. I wasn't expecting him to love it as much as he does, but I'm happy that it makes him happy.

I cut his hair monthly now and have for more than a year, thanks to covid, so I've got an up close and personal view of his before and after results from this. I agree with his assessment that it makes his hair look and feel more "fluffy." Thickening products work by adding starch to the hair, which helps give the appearance of fullness and volume. So, I mean, as long as you're not expecting this or any other thickening shampoo to literally make you grow more hair, it works as intended. On shorter hair like his, it does, indeed, make it look a bit more "fluffy," even when styled with product. So I definitely see why he likes it.

He says it lathers really well, even if he only uses a little bit. (Which is good, because of the cost!) We both think it smells nice.

Overall, this product gets very high marks from both of us. Highly recommend.

I have tried the American Crew Acumen Daily Thickening Shampoo for the last week; without alternating it with my regular shampoos. It is a warm manly woody smelling shampoo; this for me makes it more of an evening shampoo. I usually wash my hair in the mornings and like my shampoo to be part of the waking up experience. I found the Acumen smell to be comfortable rather than invigorating; so it may be a good go to sleep shampoo. Both my regular shampoos have a minty or citrus smell that help with waking up. Acumen's packaging is good for getting value out of their products though; thanks to the pump-dosing control. I found that it took two pumps to get there but it was still less than i would have manually dispensed from another shampoo. A bottle of Elemis Revitalise Me Shampoo lasts me a week or so longer than the Kiehls Thickening shampoo something i put down to dose control.

After a week of using it the Acumen each day to give it a fair go; it has kept the body in my hair; and i haven't had any issues with the ingredients either in terms of scalp or hair which is nice - though dosing control to smaller amounts helps here. I did feel that the shampoo left a squeaky clean/ dry feel on my hair and scalp. When pulling hair in my nails i could feel some rough patches. After 3 days of Lather rinse repeat I needed to add in a conditioner to make my hair feel soft again. That squeaky clean feel does suggest its doing a great job of cleaning my hair and scalp; i just like a bit of softness too.

I do normally alternate between Elemis and Kiehls - both do a nice job of waking me up and i haven't found i need to condition during the week when i use them. Alternating shampoos generally keeps my eczema down. The Kiehls Ultimate Thickening shampoo is similar product to the Acumen Thickening shampoo. Kiehls has a creamier texture, rather than bubble lather, and i think it leaves my hair feeling smoother; and certainly i don't get the dry feeling scalp. The Acumen will last longer; and it seems to maintain the body of my hair. Thanks to the pump dispenser regulating your use it will last longer. If you like warm woody manly smelling shampoo you will have the opposite view of the fragrance to me; and it will be right up your alley.
