must experiment with nozzles, water depth & sun
There is really nothing to dislike about these inexpensive solar fountain pumps. If you're not willing to experiment with the nozzles, water depth & placement in sun, then you will have complaints. First of all, any type of shade on the solar panels affects the water output (as shown in my one picture of the cast iron bird bath). 2nd of all, you have to experiment with the different nozzles. On the copper bird bath, I used 2 different nozzles. I loved the 1 nozzle but found that the water "fountained" out of the bird bath and I was having to fill the bird bath almost every hour. So I switched nozzles and even though I don't get the same fountain output, the water stays the same level in the bird bath so the fountain runs until the sun goes down. Water depth is also quite relevant. Fill that fountain up! Not sure what all these negative reviews are about if you aren't willing to experiment with the product.

I used the solar fountain in a large flower pot next to petunias. It started working as soon as it was out of the box in direct sunlight. It needs direct sunlight to work properly. It will bubble on a cloudy day. The nozzles add a lot of height and caused the water to dissipate pretty fast so I decided to not use the nozzles in this arrangement. I love the sound of the water and the quality has been great, especially for the price!

I was so excited to get this little solar fountain for my pond because it's such a neat concept. Upon receiving, there we no instructions for startup in the box, but it's pretty simple so I figured it out. I put it outside in the pond and it was just pulsating slightly, barely pushing out any water. Upon reading other reviews, it seems this thing doesn't have any power reserve, so as soon as it's not in direct sunlight, it stops working. The pond was shaded during the time of day so i filled up a tub and put it in direct sunlight and it still didn't work, still only pulsating slightly. Not sure what went wrong, because even with sufficient water and direct sunlight it wasn't working. Maybe I just got a defective product, I really wanted to like this product but unfortunately i will be returning.
