Say goodbye to artificial flavourings, excess sugar and unfamiliar ingredients.
Say hello to delicious, nourishing, real food that will invigorate your body.

Research shows that one in seven of us across the globe is addicted to ultra-processed foods (UPFs). Often labelled as ‘healthy’, UPFs are everywhere we look – in our shopping baskets, our children’s lunch boxes and our kitchen cupboards. Yet research has shown these foods are synonymous with ill-health and a litany of chronic conditions, such a type 2 diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease. Breaking free from the hold of these cheap, convenient UPFs is one of the best things we can do for our health, but it can feel impossible to know where to begin.

Here, expert nutritionist Rob Hobson sets out the steps to make your diet cleaner and healthier, yet still bursting with flavour. With practical tips, effortless wholefood swaps and tasty recipes, he shows how to make all your go-to ready meals, freezer favourites, sauces and snacks without the nasties, so you and your family can embrace an unprocessed life that is simple, satisfying and achievable.

Let Unprocess Your Life be your compass for navigating the modern food landscape, reclaiming your health from the hidden perils of UPFs one delicious meal at a time.

‘If every household in the UK had a copy of this book, it could change the health of the nation and save the NHS billions. I wish I could prescribe it!’ Dr Dawn Harper

Tasty, Simple, Healthy Recipes and Easy Swaps
Amazing recipes that are so tasty and easy to make. The difference in flavours you get when you make the move away from ultra processed food is insane. The recipes are so simple and quick to make using everyday easy to buy product’s, unlike some recipe books where you have to hunt around or find specialist shops for ingredients. I have tried a number of the recipes in the book so far and all are delicious. I have recommended this book to friends and family as a must have purchase. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to find alternatives to ultra processed foods.

This book was actually serialised in the Daily Mail but as I have a digital subscription I was unable to save the book and decided to buy a copy. I am interested in the subject of ultra processed foods. I always read the labels on products and I am often quite shocked when I read the list of ingredients - usually a great long list of ingredients I have never heard of. I have made the decision to cut out ultra processed foods where possible. This book is very helpful. It provides a clear definition of what exactly ultra processed food is but helpfully also described minimally processed foods. I think it would be impossible, at least for me, to cut out UPFs completely, but I will certainly aim to only eat either fresh foods or minimally processed foods. The book also provides a wide range of recipes although I found them a bit "fancy" for my tastes. Overall, however, this is a well written book covering a very important subject and I found it informative and helpful.

This is a very well thought out cookery book and I will be putting
it to good use. There are some lovely recipes that I will be trying.
I am really pleased with the way the book is set out. It clearly shows
you what ultra processed foods are and what unprocessed foods are
so you can’t go wrong. Lovely cookery book and I would recommend it.

Gradually builds an understanding of what I can do to improve our diets....and it is a gradual process as so much of what I buy has sneaky ingredients. I've always watched out for sugar, salt & saturated fat in ready-made meals & know that it takes time & effort to improve. I'm not a cook & have fussy family - but I can see a few ideas that I can build on.......

I bought this after reading Chris Van Tulleken's Ultra-Processed People (which I would heartily recommend).

This is firmly jumping on the bandwagon of Tulleken's book and aiming to provide recipes to help those who wish to stop eating UPF. There are a few pages at ther beginning that are summaries of the practical side of eating unprocessed food, that are covered in much better detail by the Tulleken book, but most of the book is a recipe book.

Useful recipes that are not easy to find include make-your-own salad dressings, ketchup, protein bars etc.

However, many of the recipes are merely ones that use unprocessed ingredients, very much as most recipe books do nowadays. In fact, quite a few of them have numerous ingredients (I just opened it randomly to a dinner recipe and there were 15 ingredients!). These recipes are nothing different to anyone else's - when cooking from scratch you would rarely use an ultra-processed food anyway, and they are complicated, expensive and time-consuming, albeit they do look tasty.

I can't think of any way that this book is better than the original book that started it all by Van Tulleken, together with a decent cook-from-scratch recipe book.

I was ready looking forward to this book but I have been disappointed.
The quality of the writing is poor, with clunky sentences and incorrect grammar.

I can’t believe someone with any knowledge of cooking would advocate frying with extra virgin olive oil! Add to this I’ve found instances where the instructions & cooking method do not match. Neither style or substance have impressed.

Furthermore the author is very much speaking from his place of privilege and it shows.

I’ve tried one of the recipes so far and it didn’t work. I’m a confident and competent cook so I could see what was wrong with the method and fix the problem. However this book claims to be for the those less confident or new to cooking from scratch. If that was the case for me I would have been completely put off the whole endeavour of cooking.

If you want to learn more about ultra processed foods etc I’d recommend Chris van Tulleken
