'Arresting and vivid, raw and breathtaking...told with stunning originality' DOLLY ALDERTON, author of EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE

'Annie Lord tells us a story at once both specific and universal'
SHON FAYE, author of THE TRANSGENDER ISSUE

'An electrifying debut'
CAROLINE O'DONOGHUE, author of THE RACHEL INCIDENT

Dark, fierce and raw, Notes on Heartbreak is a love story told in reverse...

Reeling from a broken heart, Annie Lord revisits the past - from the moment she first fell in love, the shared in-jokes and intertwining of a long-term relationship, to the months that saw the slow erosion of a bond five years in the making.

Charting her attempts to move on, Annie explores the ups and downs of being newly single, from
disastrous rebound sex to sending ill-advised nudes, stalking your ex's new girlfriend on Instagram and the sharp indignity of being ghosted.

This stunning exploration of love and heartbreak from cult journalist and
Vogue columnist Annie Lord, is so much more than a book about one singular break-up. It is an unflinchingly honest account of the simultaneous joy and pain of being in love that will resonate with anyone who has ever nursed a broken heart.

It's a book about the best and worst of love:
the euphoric and the painful, the beautiful and the messy.

Perfect for fans of
Everything I Know About Love, Conversations on Love and Three Women.

This book made me laugh out loud, it's unbelievably honest. It's an easy read as it's quite gripping as you really want to find out what happens. It's very funny - particularly about what her friends and parents said about the break up. It's brave to be so honest and the writer really bares her soul to the reader. She's not the heroine who gets every man she wants which is really refreshing. I've bought this for four of my friends for their holidays - I totally recommend it.

This was much better than I expected. Annie has a very engaging writing style, as she picks apart the break up of a 5 year relationship. She explores what went wrong and how she picked herself up, in a way that anyone who has been through a heartbreak will be able to relate to. You kind of want them to get back together, but she has the self awareness to know that’s not what’s best for her.

Had I not been on holiday with this book, I would not have persevered.
There’s no substance to this, just a 20 year olds ramblings.
Save yourself a few hours of your life

I loved the author’s honesty and whilst I could not relate with everything that she experienced, I laughed a lot while reading and could find inner piece by understanding that we are in fact not alone when it comes to heartbreak.

Huge recommendation for everyone who goes through a breakup.
