U.S. House passes Carl’s bill to protect Alabama Underwater Forest off Gulf Shores

A bill that would designate the Underwater Forest in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Alabama as a National Marine Sanctuary passed the U.S. House of Representatives Monday night.

“The Alabama Coastal Foundation is delighted to see the broad support for this important but noncontroversial issue,” said Mark Berte, the executive director of the Alabama Coastal Foundation. The foundation is a nonprofit that has led efforts to preserve the forest. “We’re looking forward to working in the Senate for the next 11 weeks to get the bill passed.”
