20-year-old Alabama man killed in apparent fireworks accident

A Madison County man was killed just after midnight Friday in an apparent accident involving Fireworks.

Don Webster with Huntsville Emergency Medical Services said the incident happened at about 12:03 a.m.

First responders were called to a home at Nick Davis Road and Pettus Road in Harvest.

A 20-year-old man was injured. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital, where he later died.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office, along with Harvest and Monrovia volunteer fire departments, were on the scene.

Several fireworks-related injuries were reported in connection with Independence Day celebrations.

Decatur police responded to one at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday. Officers were called to the 1500 block of Chadwell St. where a man suffered an injury to his right hand.

He was transported by ambulance to Decatur Morgan Hospital, and later flown to Huntsville Hospital to receive treatment.
