CBS News Reveals Debate Night Plans for June 27

CNN’s presidential debate is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET on June 27, but CBS News will be on the debate beat starting at 5 p.m.  The network has unveiled the schedule of original programming that will surround its simulcast of CNN’s match-up between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. America Decides: Campaign ’24 is the umbrella title for the cross-platform lineup, which will take advantage of CBS’ linear, streaming and digital outlets.

America Decides gets underway on CBS News 24/7 with an hour-long special, followed by a debate-focused episode of The Daily Report with John Dickerson at 6 p.m. Liner programming kicks in at 6:30 with the Norah O’Donnell-anchored CBS Evening News airing from the network’s Election HQ Studios in Times Square. O’Donnell will also be part of an 8 p.m. streaming debate preview that leads into the 9 p.m. simulcast. She’ll return to CBS News 24/7 at 11 p.m. to lead post-debate analysis.

Among the CBS News talent that will be joining O’Donnell in Times Square are Margaret Brennan, John DickersonMajor Garrett, Gayle King and Ed O’Keefe. Meanwhile, the network will be represented at CNN’s Atlanta studios by Nancy CordesRobert Costa and Caitlin Huey-Burns. Additionally, Weijia Jiang will be filing reports from Raleigh, North Carolina and Joel Payne and Terry Sullivan will be on hand for further analysis.
