Helpdesk

CFA Australia is constantly working to support people with disability and organisations in their digital access journey. To further this, we have developed two Helpdesk services supported by our disability-led team: a Helpdesk for people with disability, their families and carers which is free of charge, and a Digital Access Helpdesk for organisations exclusively available to members.

Free Helpdesk: Support for people with disability, their families and carers

The free Helpdesk for people with disability, their families and carers has been created to support people with disability who are finding it difficult to access content online.

If you want to enable disability-specific accessibility features on your device, we have a comprehensive resource to help. Our Device Setup resource provides step-by-step guidance onhow to identify and enable the best accessibility features for your disability across Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and ChromeBook devices.

You can also contact the helpdesk directly. Other free services we provide include:

  • Helping you find alternative accessible websites or apps to support your everyday activities.
  • Provide advice on how to enable accessibility features on popular devices
  • Links to useful tutorials and other online resources

Digital Access Helpdesk: Exclusive to CFA Australia members

In addition to our free helpdesk for people with disability, CFA Australia also provides helpdesk services to organisations. The first part of this support is a free comprehensive online resource that provides an introduction to digital access, guidance on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standard and detailed guidance on how your organisation can meet the standard.

In addition, we also provide a Digital Access Helpdesk service exclusively for members of CFA Australia. This includes unlimited email support and an initial two hours of access to call the helpdesk which can be used in 15 minute increments (additional hours can be purchased).

The members Digital Access Helpdesk is aimed at organisations who are seeking specific advice on:

  • What is digital access?
  • What is WCAG?
  • How do I make sure my website, documents or apps comply with the Current WCAG standard?
  • What is my legal obligation to make content accessible?
  • I’m not sure how to implement a specific WCAG guideline or success criteria, how do I do it?

Cancellations for All

As part of the ‘Cancellations for All’ project launched by CFA Australia, and funded by the Australian Communications Consumer Action Network (ACCAN), CFA Australia has facilitated research and analysis of the accessibility of cancellation and support options for 44 mobile service providers. This accessibility assessment is based upon different groups of people with disability, and it can be effective in determining the accessibility of mobile service providers not just during the service, but should a situation arise where you would require support or cancellation of the service.
