XIII CONGRESO NACIONAL DE NUMISMÁTICA «Moneda y Arqueología»
UNA “BOLSA/MONEDERO” DEL SIGLO XVIII HALLADA EN LA SEU VELLA DE LLEIDA , congreso nacional de numismática 2008.pdfDuring the archaeologicals excavations made in the Seu Vella de Lleida in 1992 and 1993, for it’s restoration, a series of remains were found in the outer facade of the sacristy. Some graves were excavated in the subsoil and were covered with stone and had a slab cover, and in it’s soil within contained some coins, but also there was a series of corpses buried without any casket or tomb. One of dead was buried next to a small purse that contained a monetary set from XVII century, specifically 56 “ardites” from Barcelona and 2 “dineros” from the mints of Lleida and Vic, respectively. The owner of the purse was one of the victims of the bombing of the city of Lleida and its cathedral the Seu, in 1707. The purse is a direct testimony of the circulation of the low value coins before the minting of the news values of the War of Succession.
