Studies research trends in the Humanities based on Master and Doctoral disserta-tions submitted to the University of Malaya library between 1984 and 1994. Disser-tation submission pattern increases 5 fold since the 1960s and the main contributors were post graduate students enrolled at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Education. Within the former faculty, the top three contributors were from the Departments of Malay studies, Islamic Studies and English studies. Researches were focussed on local studies and the highest research activity was indicated by researchers in Language and literature. Results from trend studies helped to identify the humanities research population, research trends and strength for effective resource allocation and formulation of plans to meet information needs amongst Humanities researchers.

The study examines Ola Rotimi's Theatre from both the literary and theatrical perspectives. The study contends that Ola Rotimi created/developed simplicity of style both in his playwriting and in theatre practice. The study also notes that Rotimi has created the drama and theatre of lasting quality through his knowledge of the culture and tradition of his people and his copious deployment of Para-linguistic aesthetics in his plays. Rotimi anchores all these on his knowledge of world theatre in his practice, thus creating the phenomenon of total theatre. The study concludes that the laws of the theatre are provisional and subject to change, derived from creativity and not from theory.

Dear Colleagues and Readers I am so glad to present Volume 3, Issue 4 of the International Journal of Humanities and Cultural Studies (IJHCS). The IJHCS has moved to its more advanced and technically rich website through the use of the popular Open Journal System. This, of course, reflects the depth of the work being done in our journal. The journal keeps faith in multidisciplinary perspective. Articles published in this issue, reflect different theoretical and applied concerns in humanities, cultural studies, management, linguistic studies among other disciplines. As a matter of fact, this new issue includes works of the research scholars from different countries which reflected the international nature and scope of the journal. As usual, I sincerely thank our respected authors for selecting the IJHCS, our reviewers for reviewing the selected articles for this issue and the Administrative Board for its contribution to helping the IJHCS achieve this success. Next issue will be published in June 2017 and your valuable contributions are welcome till 20 May 2017. With Best Regards,

Research: Arts and Humanities (AH) Way (2012)2012 •
This paper argues that research in the arts and humanities (AH) should not be marginalized in the academe, as has generally been the situation, but should equally be given emphasis together with those researches in the social sciences. All the more they should be equally funded because they generally require a smaller outlay compared to those in the natural and social sciences. Moreover, outputs in AH qualitative researches can also be comparatively significant epistemologically, culturally, or historically.
