HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - At Southern Boom Fireworks in Henderson, they were having what employees say was a pretty good season of revenue.

That was until someone approached them at the register and took over it right out from under their noses.

Dezza Kemper was tasked with handling a rush of customers rather than prepping to celebrate the Fourth of July.

Running a fireworks tent, she says they were having a very successful couple of days, totaling thousands of dollars in revenue.

All of it came screeching to a halt when Kemper says she was robbed at gunpoint.

“I was counting money out. My other employee, she just went to the bathroom, and it just happened so quickly,” says Kemper. “Either somebody was doing a stakeout or they’d been a customer here, but they knew where everything was.”

Kemper and Henderson Police say a male wearing a black hoodie showed a gun and took the entire register with him.

In total, over $6,000 gone in a second, with Kemper left to pick up the pieces.

“Me and my employee, like we worked so hard, and like we sold out of almost everything,” she says, “and just to have that taken away from us? It sucks, it really does.”

For now, they’re trying to keep spirits up while packing up all remaining inventory for this holiday season.

She did have one thing to say to the man who came into their tent looking to do misdeeds: “We’ll find you.”

Henderson Police say they have detectives who are investigating.

In the meantime, they’re asking if anyone has any information to please contact the Henderson Police Department at (270) 831-1295 or Crime Stoppers at (270) 831-1111.
