VANDERBURGH CO., Ind. (WFIE) - The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced a road closure for U.S. 41.

That closure is set to begin on Saturday, July 13.

Crews will close southbound U.S. 41 at Ruffian Way.

According to a release, the eastbound I-64 ramp to southbound U.S. 41 will also be closed at that time.

The closure will allow for a pipe replacement project.

This follows after an inspection revealed the pipe under U.S. 41 needs to be replaced. Inspection also revealed weakening to both the inlet and outlet sides of the pipe.

Officials say alternating lane closures will occur at the intersection of Ruffian Way on July 11 so crews can prepare for the pipe replacement project.

”This will be a high impact project that’s why we’re trying to make sure that everyone knows it’s coming on July 13,” said INDOT public relation manager,” Gary Brian. “Make sure that they know it’s going to be a deal.”

Work is expected to take a week to complete.

The detour for this closure is I-64 to I-69 to State Road 57 to U.S. 41.

Officials say local traffic will have access up to the point of closure.
