EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Authorities say a baby was still inside a car when it was repossessed in Evansville.

They say the car was reported stolen from Riverside drive, and it was first thought to be a kidnapping.

Authorities quickly learned the car was repossessed and not stolen.

They say the tow truck driver pulled over near Wolfe’s Auto Auction and discovered the baby was still inside the car.

This all happened shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday.

Police say the driver of the car had just stepped out of the car for a second and it was still running.

She’s not facing any charges.

“I am a good mom. I was dropping my son off into daycare. It was two seconds,” she told us.

Her son is an older child. She says the little girl who was in the car is just seven days old.

Police and the mother both say the child is fine, and with no aggressive driving reported as well as no negligence on the mother’s part.

They say they don’t anticipate any charges being filed for either party.
