HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - Henderson County High School held a State Send-Off for the Lady Colonels Wednesday.

There was a walk through the high school before the basketball team headed to the bus.

After the celebration, it was all about focus for the team, and focusing on the opportunity.

“We talked to them at the end of practice,” said head coach, Stephen Haile. “Yeah, we don’t have any seniors, we’ve got three juniors and three sophomores, but you’re not guaranteed to ever have a chance to come back here again. It’s great that our program has been here six years in a row, and a lot out of the last 20, probably 17 just going off the top of my head, we’ve been a lot. But, you’re not guaranteed anything.”

While Allyson Rideout says the focus all turns to the game now, Adalyn Gish said they enjoyed their sendoff.

“We had to come into practice focused the last couple of days. We’re going to enjoy ourselves while we’re up there, but get focused tonight, come out, and hopefully get a win tomorrow,” said HCHS junior, Allyson Rideout.

The Lady Colonels will play the 3rd Region winner in the first round of the Girls Basketball Sweet 16 Tournament on Thursday at Rupp Arena at 12:30 p.m.
