Newcomer Utah picked first in Big 12 Preseason Media Poll, WVU checks in at No. 7

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Big 12 newcomer Utah is the preseason favorite in the Big 12 Conference, according to the league’s poll of football media members that cover the conference.

The Utes went 8-5 in 2023, finishing with a 5-4 record in the Pac-12 Conference. Utah collected 20 of the 61 first-place votes.

Kansas State (19 first-place votes) checks in second, while Oklahoma State is third.

Kansas is fourth and another league newcomer, Arizona rounds out the top five.

West Virginia (9-4 in 2023) checks in at No. 7. The Mountaineers were selected 14th (out of 14 teams) a year ago.

The Big 12’s other newcomers, Colorado and Arizona State are 11th and 16th respectively.

Spring Valley High School graduate and offensive tackle Wyatt Milum is WVU’s lone representative on the Preseason All-Big 12 Football Team.
