A massive great white shark weighing more than 1,400 pounds paid a visit to the Outer Banks over the weekend.

Breton is a 13 feet 3 inches long adult male shark tagged by the nonprofit marine research group OCEARCH.

Researchers said he pinged off of Hatteras, North Carolina and was joined by juvenile sharks that have spent the last few weeks in the same region.

"Many of our animals use the productive continental shelf waters around the Outer Banks, NC as a spring staging area before making their migration north for their summer residency," the organization said.

Breton was first tagged off Nova Scotia in 2020 and was named for Cape Breton.

In August 2022, he pinged approximately 60 miles offshore of Myrtle Beach.
