BOSTON (WHDH) - Police launched an investigation overnight after a man was fatally shot on Shawmut Avenue, officials said.

Officers responding to a reported shooting in the area of 618 Shawmut Ave. around 1:30 a.m. Friday found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Boston police.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released and no arrests have been made as of around 8 a.m., according to police.

While the police investigation continued on Shawmut Avenue, police were also on scene at two other shootings on Blue Hill Avenue and Centre Street in Jamaica Plain.

One person was injured in the Blue Hill Avenue shooting and three people were hurt in the Jamaica Plain shooting. As was the case on Shawmut Avenue, police did not immediately announce any arrests.

It was unclear whether any of the shootings were related.

No additional information was immediately available.
