We’re creating a future where plants replace dairy, without compromise. Because life’s too short for one type of milk.

About us

Inspired by the bounty of California, Califia Farms (pronounced “Cal-uh-FEE-ahh,” like California) is on a mission to nourish the world with the wisdom of a plant-based lifestyle. The company was named the 2021 Beverage Forum Small Company of the Year (< $1 billion in revenue); 2017 Supplier of the Year by Whole Foods Market; a 2015 “Breakout Brand” by Beverage World; and BevNet's 2015 "Brand of the Year." Califia Farms creates innovative, healthy and great-tasting premium beverages that make it easy for consumers to go plant-based and dairy-free, without compromise. It is one of the fastest-growing natural beverage companies in the U.S., as well as the #1 plant-based dairy alternative brand in the natural channel. Founded in 2010 by beverage visionary, Greg Steltenpohl, in partnership with a farmer's co-op based in the San Joaquin Valley, Califia Farms is a uniquely California company. Its Bakersfield, Calif. manufacturing plant is powered by renewable energy and re-purposes more than 90% of its post-production byproduct.

Going, going, GREEN! 🌱 We're thrilled to share that Califia Farms HQ is officially a certified Los Angeles Green Business! What does it meant to be green? Through the California Green Business Network and LA Sanitation & Environment, businesses must meet environmental standards in the areas of waste, energy, water, pollution prevention, and air quality, making our communities healthier and more livable while also conserving resources. Deepening our #sustainability commitment at Califia means making changes that, over time, make a BIG difference. Some of the changes we've recently made at our headquarters include: ✔ providing bulk snacks ✔ composting our coffee beans ✔ offering reusable dishware ✔ updating our waste signage ✔ educating employees on how to properly sort waste ...and much more. We look forward to continuing these and other efforts. #greenbizla #greenbusiness

At Califia Farms, we aim to be a positive force for people and communities. And we’re so #thankful to our incredible team and to our local non-profit partners who helped make our recent company-wide volunteer event possible. This year, we spent a collective 370+ hours working with the Garden School Foundation, Golden Empire Gleaners, and City Harvest to help alleviate food insecurity – a serious health issue affecting nearly one billion people globally. From composting, to pruning, to packing food and more, Califians brought their customary enthusiasm and shared sense of purpose, intent on contributing to a brighter future for all!

In honor of #NationalInternDay, we are thrilled to celebrate our amazing summer interns: Katelyn Wang, Marissa Johnston, and Tolou Shams! These outstanding individuals have brought their collective passion and unique skillsets to Califia, contributing in different ways across the organization. From finance to quality and food safety, to social media, they have brought diverse perspectives and valuable insights that have had a positive impact on the work we do. Read on for their reflections and the #advice they have for others looking to shape their professional careers. Thank you, Katelyn, Marissa, and Tolou! Marissa Johnston, Quality & Food Safety Intern 🥕 -         Sophomore at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo -         The most impactful thing about my internship has just been the industry experience I have gained that has exposed me to what I am passionate about, and how I can continue those passions in my future career. -         My advice for students looking for an internship is: don’t be afraid to step out your comfort zone whether that’s the type of internship, the amount of previous experience you have in that area, or the location. The things you learn every day are worth the fear and nerves you might have going in.      Katelyn Wang, Finance Intern 💵 -         Junior at the University of Notre Dame -         The most impactful part of my internship is gaining real-world experience in understanding how cross-functional teams within the company work together to produce results. The culture at Califia has created a supportive learning environment that is challenging and exciting, which will produce valuable insights for my future. -         My advice for anyone looking for an internship is: don’t give up too early and do your research! Reach out to alumni from your university for their insight on the firms or brands you’re interested in because it can be handy in your interview. Try not to compare yourself with your peers and celebrate your successes in the process, whether they be big or small.        Tolou Shams, Social Media Intern 📱 -         Junior at the University of Southern California -         The most impactful thing about my internship at Califia has been the creative freedom I have been given to explore new content and learn best practices when working in social media. I have really enjoyed being able to work on projects aside from social media, such as researching influencers and pitching collaboration ideas with other brands and creators.
