Illumination Foundation’s mission is to disrupt the cycle of homelessness.
About us
Studies show that families with children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population in America. This is especially true in Orange County, where one of the most expensive housing markets in the nation creates an immense gap between income and affordable housing. In 2007, the Illumination Foundation was founded to create a safety net for these homeless families by providing ongoing patient-centered housing, healthcare, workforce, and educational services. Our mission is to provide targeted, interdisciplinary services for the most vulnerable homeless clients in order to break or prevent the cycle of homelessness. For the past ten years, we’ve committed ourselves to providing the best care possible for the homeless, focusing on services that will assist families into stable housing. By assessing families and individuals as they enter our care, we can identify their unique needs and provide immediate relief when necessary. We utilize public/private partnerships to ensure that our clients are connected to all community resources available to them.

Meet Rebecca and her family who were living paycheck to paycheck until they fell behind on their rent. Six months pregnant Rebecca, her husband, and two children were then connected to Illumination Foundation. “I just want to say thank you. You're all really special for helping out families, supporting people in need, and giving hope to people who really need the help. God bless you.” Double your impact so other families like Rebecca's do not have to worry about where they will spend the night. Help us reach our year end giving goal. In May of 2022, Tiffany and her child, Sam, fled an abusive marriage and became homeless. They were placed at our Plumeria House Family Emergency Shelter, which provided safety and a community for Tiffany and Sam. After a long journey, Tiffany and Sam are now in their own home. 💛 Thanks to supporters like you, Illumination Foundation’s housing and healthcare programming was able to have a life-changing impact on Tiffany and her family. Click the link to donate today and make a difference for families like Tiffany's. https://lnkd.in/gt_cSDgR #MakeAnImpact #ThereIsHope #EndHomelessness #Donate #ifhomeless

“[Peers] bring something to the table that is unteachable, something you can’t get educated on.” Center for Health Care Strategies recently spoke with Katelyn Taubman, Manager of Case Management at Illumination Foundation, about training peers to help people experiencing homelessness. Read the blog post below to learn more. #Recovery #LivedExperience #Support #ifhomeless California Health Care Foundation
People experiencing homelessness and fighting addiction often feel isolated with no one to pick them up if they fall. Staff with lived experience — serving as case managers, housing navigators, or in other roles — who’ve “walked in their shoes” can help provide a foundation to help people journey to recovery. The Center for Health Care Strategies recently spoke with Katelyn Taubman, Manager of Case Management at Illumination Foundation, about how to best support staff with lived experience who work with people experiencing homelessness and may have substance use disorders. Katelyn is a participant in the Partnerships for Action: California Health Care & Homelessness Learning Collaborative, led by CHCS and made possible by the California Health Care Foundation. https://bit.ly/3tbixBe
