Dedicated to the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer around the globe for the women who need it most.

About us

CureCervicalCancer (CCC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer. Since 2013, CureCervicalCancer has screened over 185,000 women and provided life-saving treatment to 12,500+ women. We have trained 750+ healthcare professionals and 1,700+ community health educators, and established over 100 sustainable “See & Treat” clinics. Our network of clinics operate in 10 different countries including Ethiopia, Guatemala, Haiti, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Vietnam. With early detection and treatment, cervical cancer is nearly 100% preventable, yet it claims the lives of over 300,000 women every year. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a woman dies of cervical cancer every two minutes, making it one of the greatest threats to women’s health. A disproportionate 90% of these women live in resource limited countries where lack of wide-scale screening fails to identify cervical cancer until it is invasive and access to treatment for invasive cancer is virtually non existent. Without the intervention of early detection and treatment, women in resource poor regions will continue to die from cervical cancer at an alarming rate. In fact, the WHO predicts that by the year 2040 cervical cancer deaths will increase by 50%. The world’s most vulnerable women are unjustly dying from a disease that we have the knowledge and tools to prevent.

Exciting News for Women's Health and the Fight Against Cervical Cancer! The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of primary human papillomavirus (HPV) self-collection for cervical cancer screening in the U.S. Self-collection empowers women to use a kit to take their own vaginal sample, which is then tested for HPV. Since HPV is responsible for nearly all cervical cancer cases, early detection is key. This development offers a more convenient and comfortable screening option, marking a significant step forward in the effort to eradicate cervical cancer. You can read more about HPV self-sample FDA approval here: https://lnkd.in/eq2YVCeA #WomensHealth #CervicalCancerAwareness #HPV #HealthcareInnovation #FDAApproval

Last week our founder, Dr. Patricia Gordon, MD, was invited to speak at Charles Drew Medical School on her journey from clinical practice to pioneering a global health nonprofit, CureCervicalCancer! At CureCervicalCancer, we're committed to making a difference in the fight against cervical cancer worldwide. With a focus on early detection and prevention, we strive to empower communities with life-saving education and resources. Speaking at Charles Drew Medical School allowed us to share our experiences, challenges, and triumphs in bridging the gap between clinical care and global health initiatives. It's an honor to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals to make an impact beyond the clinic walls. Together, we're building a world where cervical cancer is a disease of the past. #CureCervicalCancer #GlobalHealth #Prevention #EarlyDetection #CommunityEmpowerment #CharlesDrewMedicalSchool #Inspiration #HealthcareLeadership

CureCervicalCancer invests heavily in building sustainability in the local healthcare system capacity. Here are a few ways we do that: 1. We train and upskill local healthcare professionals. In 2024, our goal is to reach 15,000 women in Migori County in western Kenya and train and mentor 750 healthcare providers (nurses, midwives, and clinical officers); 50 lab technologists; and 11,000 community health workers. 2. We make MOUs with every county government that we work with to identify healthcare facilities. We build capacity for screening and treatment by training their providers and administrators, and ensuring that they are equipped with the tools and resources to provide screening/treatment and referrals. 3. We engage key stakeholders (ie -Reproductive Health Coordinators, Community Focal Persons, and Health Promotion Officers) at the local, sub-county, and county levels to form a comprehensive cervical cancer prevention task working group. 4. We are partnering with the County to develop public health awareness campaigns to bring cervical cancer education to 30,000 men and women in their communities. Implementing a sustainable, long-term, community-led program, like Mobile Health for Mamas, is essential for optimizing our impact! #womenshealth #curecervicalcancer #hpvawareness #hpvscreening #cervicalcancerscreening #globalhealth #cervicalcancer #WorldHealthOrganization

We're thrilled to share our progress from our Mobile Health for Mamas program since the launch of our new solar-powered, custom-built mobile laboratory 6 months ago! As the gold standard for cervical cancer screening, testing for the presence of HPV is crucial, especially in low- and middle-income countries where access to screening remains a challenge. Since its launch in October 2021, Mobile Health for Mamas has been dedicated to reaching medically underserved women with life-saving cervical cancer screening and treatment. Our holistic approach includes training healthcare workers, community education, screening, treatment, and support services. Our Key 6-month Achievements Include: - Inaugurated CureCervicalCancer Kenya, solidifying our commitment to long-term impact. - Introduced the Mobile Health for Mamas App, streamlining program implementation and client care. - Tested 1,774 women in Kisumu County and 4,706 in Migori County. We're on track to achieve our year objectives and performance targets, with plans to expand our impact across Kenya and beyond! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our mission to prevent cervical cancer and create sustainable change in Kenya and sub-Saharan Africa or sign up for our monthly newsletter here: https://lnkd.in/de5A4sbG #MobileHealth #CervicalCancerPrevention #CommunityHealth #Womenshealth #hpvawareness

Cervical cancer is almost completely preventable and easily treatable when caught early. In 2018, the World Health Organization set out a global elimination strategy to eradicate cervical cancer as a public health problem. To eliminate cervical cancer, all countries must reach and maintain an incidence rate of below 4 per 100,000 women. Achieving the 2030 Cervical Cancer Elimination Target rests on three key pillars and their corresponding targets: 1. Vaccination: 90% of girls fully vaccinated with the HPV vaccine by age 15. 2. Screening: 70% of women screened using a high-performance test by age 35, and again by age 45. 3. Treatment: 90% of women with pre-cancer treated and 90% of women with invasive cancer managed. Each country should meet the 90–70–90 targets by 2030 to get on the path to eliminate cervical cancer within the next century. At CureCervicalCancer, we facilitate screening and treatment for women who would otherwise have no access to cervical cancer preventative care. March is Women's History Month, and at CureCervicalCancer we put women at the forefront of everything we do. We are making a world better than what history gave us - a world where cervical cancer is a disease of the past. Meet Lydia, pictured in the second photo. She's a Healthcare Professional (HCP) educating women from her community on the importance and process of cervical screening at an outreach event in the Nyando sub-county of Kisumu, Kenya. We empower female providers to prevent cervical cancer in their communities by up-skilling them via our trainings and employing them to run our HPV testing and treatment activities. Not only are we providing life-saving screening and treatment, our wraparound programs empower women to take charge of their health. Self-sampling eliminates the social discomfort or emotional distress of a pelvic exam by a provider, putting the woman in control of her health and ultimately allowing us to reach more women. From creating education and awareness to the last steps of treatment: we're supporting and empowering women the entire way. #cervicalcancer #globalhealth #womenshealth #hpvawareness #cervicalcancerawareness #reproductivejustice #equitablehealthcare #impactdriven #cervicalcancerprevention #womenshistorymonth #womenempowerment
