#Measles killed an alarming 43% more people worldwide in 2022 than in 2021. Some 136,000 people, most of them children, died of the vaccine-preventable viral infection last year: https://bit.ly/47yyL5Q The fact that it is among the most contagious diseases means it could be a 'canary in the coalmine': the first sign that the world is about to experience a rise in deadly outbreaks. Thirty-seven countries recorded "large and disruptive" outbreaks of measles in 2022, up from 22 countries in 2021. A two-dose vaccine is 97% effective at preventing measles but vaccine coverage declined during the pandemic, leaving millions of children vulnerable to this deadly threat. It’s imperative to get vaccine coverage back on track and reach everyone, everywhere. In 2024, Gavi will work with partners to support at least 15 lower-income countries to conduct preventive measles and rubella vaccination campaigns, to protect an estimated 38.5 million children. #VaccinesWork World Health Organization UNICEF Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Healthcare providers: On Nov. 1, 2023, COVID-19 therapeutics Paxlovid and Lagevrio became commercially available. These products are available to all eligible patients but are now fully covered only for patients with private insurance. Patient assistance programs are available to people who are underinsured, uninsured, or on Medicaid or Medicare. As the US government (USG) winds down the current distribution of USG-procured COVID-19 therapeutics, deadlines are quickly approaching. For more information: https://bit.ly/40IKv3w
