COVID-19 FAQs

Hey London! We can't wait to welcome you to the museum. On this page you can find out more about the COVID-19 safety measures we have in place at both the Museum of London and Museum of London Docklands, to help you plan your visit.

What are the museum's opening times?

We're pleased to say that the museum is now open 7 days a week, from 10am-5pm. Please note that we will need to start clearing the galleries 20 minutes before closing time.

Will I need to wear a face covering?

We would highly recommend wearing a face covering within our museums but it is not mandatory.

Will I need to show my NHS COVID pass when I visit the museum?

You do not need to show an NHS COVID Pass as a condition of entry into the museum.

Will the museum be asking visitors to participate in NHS Test and Trace?

Following recent Government guidance, NHS Test and Trace will no longer be a legal requirement upon entry to the museum. We will however continue to display QR codes at both the Museum of London and the Museum of London Docklands for customers to check in using the NHS COVID-19 app and encourage visitors to use the app when visiting.

Will staff continue to wear protective clothing?

We strongly encourage our staff to wear face coverings but these will not be mandatory.

Disposable gloves are available to staff who wish to use them. We also strongly encourage all staff to regularly wash their hands and use hand sanitiser.

What measures will you still have in place to ensure staff and visitor safety?

The safety of our staff and visitors continues to be our top priority. The safety measures we continue to have in place include the option to book a free ticket in advance to manage capacity, and free-standing hand sanitiser stations at key touch points and entrances. Screens will remain in place at welcome desks, till points and food services, and there will be a continued enhanced cleaning regime throughout all our galleries.

Do I need to book a free ticket in advance?

To guarantee entry, we would encourage visitors to book a free general admission ticket in advance to ensure they're able to visit the museum during their chosen timeslot. However, advance booking is not a requirement and there will be a number of tickets available on the door on the day.

Please note that the general admission ticket does not include entry to ticketed events or guarantee entry to non-ticketed events that may be taking place at the museum.

Will lockers and cloakrooms be available?

Yes, lockers and cloakrooms are available to use again. Lockers are big enough to take cabin sized luggage (24cm x 37cm x 43cm) and cost £1 to use.

Will buggy park facilities be available?

Yes, buggy parks are in operation at both museums currently.

Will you be doing live talks and tours again?

Live gallery talks and tours from the museum hosts are running again. Visitors should check the digital screens or ask a member of staff when they arrive for up-to-date talk and tour times for that day.

Will any galleries or exhibits be closed?

All our galleries, touch points and interactives will now be available to visitors. We will continue to clean surfaces regularly and supply free-standing hand sanitisers in all the galleries. We ask visitors to sanitise their hands before using any of our interactives.

Will you be accepting cash payment?

We will be accepting cash payment in the museum, including in the shop and cafe, but we would encourage visitors to use cashless wherever possible.

Is there seating in the galleries?

There is limited seating available in the galleries. Please speak to a member of the team if you need further assistance.

How do I book tickets for Mudlarks?

Free tickets for the Mudlarks children's gallery at the Museum of London Docklands are available to book the day before at 10am for the following day. Mudlarks tickets include general admission to the rest of the museum. You can find out more about the booking process on the Mudlarks page.
