A product recall is the process of requesting the return of a batch or entire production run of a commercial product, usually because of a defect, safety concern or efficiency problem. Find information about recalls of consumer products, food, motor vehicles and recreational boats.

Consumer Product Recalls

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) provides consumer product recall information as part of the agency’s mission to protect consumers and families from hazardous products. The CPSC has jurisdiction over more than 15,000 kinds of consumer products used in and around the home and in sports, recreation and schools. 
 

Food Recalls

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services’ Division of Food Safety monitors food from the point of manufacturing and distribution through wholesale and retail sales to ensure the public of safe, wholesome and properly represented food products. FoodSafety.gov provides the latest information on all food recalls and alerts as well as food illness outbreaks.

Motor Vehicle and Motor Vehicle Equipment Recalls

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration provides recall information, including vehicle and equipment campaigns from 1966 to present. The campaigns include motor vehicles and related equipment, child safety seats and tires that experienced a safety-related defect or did not comply with federal motor vehicle safety standards.

Recreational Boats and Related Equipment Recalls

The U.S. Coast Guard investigates consumer complaints about recreational boats and related equipment. Review safety tips, news, recalls, defects, and laws and regulations dealing with recreational boats (including personal watercraft), boat manufacturer installed equipment, and boating safety issues.

FDA Recalls, Market Withdrawals and Safety Alerts

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) provides information gathered from press releases and other public notices about certain recalls of FDA-regulated products. The product types regulated by the FDA include animal and veterinary, biologics, cosmetics, dietary supplements, drugs, food and beverages, medical devices, radiation-emitting products, and tobacco.
