Pesticide Product Registration
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS) considers products to be a pesticide if they are intended for preventing, destroying, repelling or mitigating any pest or are intended for use as a plant regulator, defoliant or desiccant. This includes disinfectants.
FDACS registers federally approved pesticides that are distributed, sold or offered for sale in Florida. Pesticides not requiring federal approval must also be registered in Florida to ensure adherence with state law. There are thousands of pesticide product brands registered for use in Florida. Before registration is granted, FDACS staff thoroughly evaluate all pesticides to ensure that they meet state safety standards.
