'Are You the One?': Because I can adjust to who you are

Back from another disappointing match ceremony, Brandon warns the group that the chance Pratt/Paris and Curtis/Briana, the two closest and most consistent couples, are perfect matches is low. Curtis fires back, stating that with such opinions Brandon better not spend time with someone who isn’t his match a.k.a. Christina. Of course, Brandon proceeds to spend most of the episode with Christina or whining about how he’s not with Christina. Alex, finally getting some screen time, consoles a frustrated Brandon, who genuinely feels he won’t make another strong connection with anyone else in the house. So far, the Alex-Brandon friendship is the best thing to come out of the Brandon-Christina debacle.

Meanwhile, Shelby sits with Nathan to ask how he feels after she and Dario kissed in front of everyone. Nathan manages to say “I would move to Kansas just for you,” “I’m not gonna f—in’ smother you,” and “I can adjust to who you are” in the span of that one conversation. Shelby astutely suggests he should find the girl he doesn’t have to adjust himself to love, which he takes as an insult rather than the common sense advice that it is. He proceeds to boast about the hot, nay, hottest girls, he’s managed to score since he was 13 as a result of his “adjusting.” Yeesh.

It’s a new week, and we’re back with our favorite Rebels aboard the Ghost, where life seems to have settled into a routine of sorts.

Ezra is practicing his Jedi skills, aka lifting bowls using the Force. Chopper is not impressed. I’m pretty sure “Bhwah-bah-beh-bwah” means “Great, we can have dinner to go!” but my astromech is rusty. Ezra’s also doing what he can to flirt with Sabine. Why 'Resurrection' star Landon Gimenez finds Margaret Langston scary

The name “Walker Stalker” brings to mind flesh-eating zombies from The Walking Dead—not adorable, resurrected 10-year-olds. But Atlanta played host to both at their annual convention this past weekend, and we caught up with Landon Gimenez (he would be the adorable, resurrected 10-year-old), who plays Jacob Langston on ABC’s Resurrection. In the show, Gimenez’s character first returns to the small town of Arcadia after drowning in the town river 30 years earlier.

His grandmother, Margaret Langston, spent most of her childhood killing those who had returned (meaning Jacob isn’t the first!), discovering how to destroy them for good. Even though Margaret calls the Returned “demons” and wants to destroy them, we asked Gimenez if he thought that Jacob could change her mind, especially since she loves her family more than anything. But Gimenez wasn’t so optimistic: “No, I don’t think so. Margaret is her own kind of lady, and she’ll stop at nothing. But I think her goal is to try to protect Jacob, Henry, and the rest of her family.” If her goal is to protect her family, it could mean she could spare the returned Langstons from being destroyed forever, or Margaret could think the only way to protect them is to destroy all of the Returned—herself and Jacob included.Read More

Scott Wilson ponders: What would Hershel do on 'The Walking Dead' season 5?

The last time we saw ~~Scott Wilson~~ Hershel Greene, he was dragging his body in a vain effort of survival until the Governor caught up and decapitated him. Only two episodes into season 5, Rick & Co. are still battling zombies, cannibals, and each other. Should they head to D.C. with Abraham, Eugene, and Rosita? And, what’s going on in Carol’s mind? It’s enough to make a Walking Dead fan long for the comforting Hershel Greene.

Today, we talked with Scott Wilson (head intact) at Atlanta’s Walker Stalker Convention. His role may have ended on AMC’s The Walking Dead, but don’t tell that to his fans at Walker Stalker. Hundreds traveled to see him, so we had to ask, “What would Hershel do?”

Ah, young love and new beginnings. Much of Sunnydale seems to be pairing up, including some of our favorite all-time Buffy the Vampire Slayer couples—and the undead as well.

Buffy is just hanging out in the cemetery, waiting for a new vampire to rise, when Angel silently sidles up and startles her, his trademark entrance. He not-so-subtly inquires about Xander, and Buffy picks up on a twinge of jealousy, which Angel denies. They start to argue, the vampire finally shows up, and Buffy swiftly fights him and finishes up with a shovel. Angel walks off in a huff and Buffy tries to follow, but stumbles into an open casket. There are tracks, meaning whoever was buried there didn’t rise; someone dragged her from it.Read More

Was it just me, or did anyone else start singing the South Park movie’s “Blame Canada” melody when you read the name of this week’s Madam Secretary episode?

Last week’s episode of the new CBS series had new Secretary of State Elizabeth “Bess” McCord helping China and Japan broker a treaty over the ownership of islands. This week’s task is a bit more daunting: Bess must develop a peace treaty with Iran while simultaneously appeasing Canada’s need to settle a report over an oil pipeline. This woman makes juggling pertinent world issues look like a cakewalk! Okay, not true; she makes it look like a beyond-difficult task that takes all the skill, resolve, and intelligence in the world. Luckily, Bess has those traits in spades.Read More

'Mulaney' react: A grave robbery, a musical number, and a Jewish Shiva

Almost any TV fan would agree, a new show—and especially a new sitcom—needs time to grow. It’s hard to make an informed judgment based only on a 22-minute sample. Enter: The Three-Episode Rule. Used by many to test the waters on a new series, the rule grants a show a three-episode grace period to make a positive impact on its viewers. It’s no secret that Mulaney is off to a rough start, facing negative reviews and disappointed viewers in its first two episodes (despite an odds-defying ratings jump in its second week). The success of its third episode could make or break the show.

Due to some interesting scheduling choices from FOX, Halloween came two weeks early, with themed Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Simpsons, and Mulaney episodes. Holidays can be fertile ground for sitcom material (think of all those Thanksgiving episodes on Friends!) but they can also be traps for clichés and overdone tropes. Luckily, Mulaney took advantage of the opportunity, and produced the best episode of the show’s short lifespan yet. It’s another two-for-the-price-of one as the WWE unleashes back-to-back episodes in which the drama outside of the ring takes center stage. Seriously, when was the last time we got some old school ring action showcasing the Divas as warrior athletes? C’mon Vince McMahon, at least pretend to remind us that these women are extremely well trained athletes and not just Housewives in spandex! But I digress.

Thanks to his injury and subsequent lack of paycheck, notorious tightwad Bryan clamps down on the household finances by putting Brie on credit card probation. She agrees but, without so much as a second thought, then proceeds to pick up the $400 check for her mother’s 50th birthday dinner. But before we have time to do the mental inventory of what exactly four people can eat to cost that much, Bryan is on the phone to his spendthrift wife guilt-tripping her for not running the expense by him first.Read More
