To the surprise of absolutely no one who caught this during last month’s season premiere, Leslie Jones has been named a castmember of Saturday Night Live.
Jones started writing for the NBC sketch comedy staple in January, and, according to Deadline, was previously a finalist for a cast spot that ultimately went to Sasheer Zamata.
The stand-up comedian has made multiple stops by Weekend Update, including a rather controversial bit in May when she joked that, while she may be single now, she would have been “the No. 1 slave draft pick.” Amid backlash, she stood by the skit, tweeting, “I’m a comic it is my job to take things and make them funny to make you think.”
Jones will start this weekend on the Jim Carrey-hosted episode of SNL.
Until then, let’s revisit that relationship advice.
