Morgan Freeman, Greg Kinnear, Radha Mitchell, Alexa Davalos, Selma Blair, Toby Hemmingway, Billy Burke
Feast? What Feast? Im famished.
Seems people arent just being condescending or cheeky when referring to Feast of Love as that one where Radha Mitchell takes her clothes off because, quite frankly, theyre the only two reasons sorry, bit cheeky to watch.
The idea is clever enough we view a group of interconnected yankies as they struggle to get their loves on track, and, well, make sense of it all but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Not only does Robert Bentons film move about as fast as, well, about as fast as Robert Benton (!), but the punch has truly been left from the bowl. Its got no kick.
Morgan Freeman is wasted as the films narrator and main thread; the man who has a personal connection to most of the films main characters. And though the always-dependable Greg Kinnear and the abovesaid Mitchell (Rogue) fare a little better in their parts, they still seem a little tired here as far as Mitchell goes, she probably just realised half-way through filming that shed been hired to strip, and little else.
Its sad to see such great actors in such dull, uninvolving films.
A film of a similar structure, that did absolutely nothing at the box office but deserves to be seen, is Playing by Heart (1998). Check that out instead its probably half-way down a bargain bin somewhere at your local disc dealer.
