Remembering Al Orensanz

al orensanzWCPUN remembers and honors the legacy of Board Member and Friend, Al Orensanz. A true Renaissance man, Al Orensanz made his mark in a variety of fields. His expansive knowledge of sociology, philosophy, history, and the arts were matched by a profound understanding of international affairs and love for humanity. In New York City’s Lower East Side, his heroic efforts prevented the demolition of the historic building and former synagogue located at 172 Norfolk St. transforming it into a vibrant center of global culture and local community life. As a Board Member of WCPUN and Contributor to Centerpoint Now, he brought wisdom, humor, invaluable collaboration and vision to our activities. While we mourn his passing, it is with gratitude for having had the opportunity to know and work with him over the years, that we wish to celebrate his extraordinary life.
