Informal meeting of environment ministers

An informal meeting of environment ministers at Brdo pri Kranju on 20 and 21 July 2021.

The first day of the meeting, 20 July 2021, will be dedicated to the Fit for 55 package. The ministers will exchange their first informal responses to the package. European Commission Executive Vice-President Frans Timmermans will be present at this part of the meeting. The afternoon session will be focused on the preparations for the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (UNFCCC COP26) to be held in Glasgow in November.

The second day of the meeting, 21 July 2021, at which Virginijus Sinkevičius, the European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, will be present, will be dedicated to biodiversity. The session will start with the discussion on the preparations for the Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 15) and on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF). Afterwards, Commissioner Sinkevičius will present the Report on the implementation of the pollinators initiative.
