Glen Powell

Glen Powell is an American actor, best known for his roles in "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Anyone but You."

Born in Austin, Texas, Powell scored his first acting credit while still in high school in 2003's "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over," in which he played "long-fingered boy." 2006 marked his first collaboration with director Richard Linklater, when he appeared as Steve in the satire "Fast Food Nation." In 2007, before starting college at the University of Texas at Austin, Powell had a role in "The Great Debaters," directed by and starring Denzel Washington.

Powell moved to Los Angeles after earning a degree in communications and his star continued to rise. He landed small roles in "The Dark Knight Rises," "Scream Queens," "The Expendables 3," "Sex Ed" and "Ride Along 2." In 2016, Powell collaborated with Linklater again in "Everybody Wants Some!!," the spiritual sequel to the director's classic hit "Dazed and Confused." Powell began to break through to the mainstream with the 2018 Netflix rom-com "Set It Up," in which he starred opposite Zoey Deutch, but really hit his stride with the 2022 critical and commercial success "Top Gun: Maverick." In the sequel to the 1986 classic, Powell portrayed Jake "Hangman" Seresin alongside Tom Cruise and Miles Teller.

Most recently, Powell made his writing debut alongside Linklater in the Venice-premiering comedy "Hit Man," in which he also starred. The film was met with favorable reviews and will premiere on Netflix June 7. But perhaps Powell's greatest success thus far has been the rom-com "Anyone but You," in which he co-starred with Sydney Sweeney in a modern adaptation of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing." The film grossed over $200 million at the box office, proving that audiences are still hankering for romance on screen. Next up for Powell is "Twisters," a standalone sequel to the 1996 disaster film, alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones and Anthony Ramos.
