The 47th annual event returns this year with a 25-minute showcase, kicking off at 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. According to the official website, this year’s display will boast a never-before-seen firework with a kaleidascope effect among the 60,000 shells that will set off along four different barges along the East River.

Thankfully, with the help of the internet, you don’t have to be based in the city to enjoy the shows. And even if you are, you can avoid the hectic crowds by streaming the entire show from your laptop or TV.
