Get ready to ride the lightning, because Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Metallica are coming to “Fortnite” as Season 4 “Festival” icons.

Two special events on June 22 and 23 (presented during six showtimes), titled “Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury,” will bring players on a journey through six of the iconic band’s fan-favorite songs, featuring gameplay that matches the intensity.

Rockers James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo and Lars Ulrich also come to the game with new outfits, unlockable through the in-game “Festival” pass and in the shop. The popular “Festival” mode also gets an upgrade for Season 4, introducing a PvP Battle Stage. Sixteen players enter, but only one will emerge victorious in a musical free-for-all.

“Fortnite’s” “Battle Royale” mode also gets a heavy metal upgrade, with new “Ride the Lightning” guitars allowing players to create a lightning arc in the sky that their squadmates can ride. In the middle of every match, the floating Metallica Loot Island will rift from a hole in the sky, boasting a stage inspired by the M72 World Tour.

Rocket Racing gets a righteous twist with the new Thrash Mountain track, a volcanic circuit serving as a tribute to all things rock including instrumental monuments, a stretch of road like a fretboard and Metallica’s “Fuel” playing in the background.

Hetfield, Hammett, Trujillo and Ulrich are in good company as “Fortnite Festival’s” Season 4 icons — The Weeknd, Lady Gaga and Billie Eilish previously held the spot.
