Abbie Linden
University of Amsterdam
My name is Abbie and I’m a third-year Common Law student who’s heading abroad to the Universiteit van Amsterdam in the Netherlands for one semester. I’m Glasgow-born and bred, so I’m really looking forward to experiencing life in a different country (where it hopefully won’t rain as much). At home, I am very involved in netball – which isn’t played in the Netherlands – so I’m excited to get involved in a new sport whilst I’m there.
I chose Amsterdam as I was lucky enough to visit the city in 2022, and its multiculturalism, sustainability, and history really drew me in. Whilst I’m there, I hope to get to know the city better by exploring on my bike. I can’t wait to tell you about what I discover and am happy to answer any other questions about the exchange process!

Amy Hutchison
University of Education Upper Austria
Hi, my name is Amy! I am a third-year Education student, and I am currently studying in Linz, Austria, at the Pädagogische Hochschule ÖÖ for the winter semester.
I chose Austria as it is in the heart of Europe, so just a few hours of travel in any direction will lead you into a new country with a different history, culture, and adventure!
I have had an incredible time here in Austria so far, and I am so excited to see what the rest of the semester has in store for me.
I look forward to sharing my Go Abroad experience with you! If you have any questions about studying abroad, please do not hesitate to get in touch!

Eliza Urquhart
Universitat Pompeu Fabra
I’m Eliza, a third-year student studying Business Management and Spanish at UofG. I’m currently on a study abroad exchange at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.
I have lived in Scotland my whole life, so this move to Spain has been an amazing opportunity to explore and immerse myself in a new culture and language. Barcelona is a great city for student life, my Spanish is rapidly improving, and I am enjoying exploring and living in a warmer climate.
I have loved every minute of my experience so far and I look forward to sharing my Go Abroad experience with you!

James Wieczysty
Bocconi University
Ciao a tutti! My name is James, and I am a third year Accounting and Finance student. This year I am currently studying abroad at the Università Bocconi in Milan.
I wanted to come to Italy to challenge myself to learn a new language and culture. So far whilst being here I have met amazing people from all around the world, visited some of Milan’s famous attractions, and found myself eating some of the best food Italy had to offer.
I look forward to sharing my international experience with you and hopefully persuading you to take the same opportunity!

Madeleine McKnight
University of British Columbia
Hi everyone! My name is Mads and I’m a third-year Common Law student from Belfast. Come January 2024, I will be starting my study exchange at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.
Outside of my course, I enjoy hiking, outdoor swimming, and live music.
My desire to study abroad came from my love of connecting with new people and learning from experiences. UBC stood out to me because of the picturesque mountains and beaches which are just a stone’s throw away from campus.
As a Global Opportunities Ambassador, I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences, documenting my time abroad, and answering questions.

Rebecca Bell
McGill University
My name is Rebecca and I’m in my third year studying Business Management – currently 3 months into my full year exchange at McGill in Montreal, Canada.
Unfortunately, 19 years of Scottish weather and 5 of studying French didn’t adequately prepare me for Canadian winters or unfamiliar Quebec accents but everyday exploring this beautiful city has been amazing.
North American uni culture is full on so expect very interactive classes, huge football pep rallies (with McGill’s very own Marty the Martlet mascot), and endless clubs and opportunities – honestly keeping you so occupied that there isn’t much time to miss home!
Going on exchange was the best choice I’ve ever made at UofG and could be the same for you, so please reach out with any questions!

Rosie Miller
University of Copenhagen
My name is Rosie and I am a third year studying politics. I am going to study at the University of Copenhagen in my second semester.
I am from Edinburgh and despite living abroad for a short amount of time on my year out before University I have never been away from Scotland for so long. I am looking forward to seeing what living abroad will be like and how the University differs from Glasgow.
I love travelling and meeting and talking to new people so I am very excited to see what Copenhagen can offer. As I try to make friends and make the most of the University experience, I am eager to see the sights, find new cafes and learn how to improve by bike skills !
As a Global Opportunities Ambassador I hope to share the highs and lows in order to show students what the experience is genuinely like. I would be happy to offer any advice so please feel free to get in touch with any questions.
