Unite NY thinks democracy in New York is a good thing. Wouldn’t more democracy be better? We are working to make that happen.
Unite NY is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that invests in reforms that will focus on a fairer, more open State government, allowing more New Yorkers to have faith that their voice matters. We work to support the right leaders with the right incentives to solve our state’s greatest problems.
By building collaboration among leaders from all parties and persuasions, Unite NY will seek to address New York’s greatest problems with common sense solutions. For far too long, we’ve been told that to participate in our democracy, it is necessary to choose one of the two major parties. That’s simply not true or healthy.
This two-party doom loop leaves New Yorkers out in the cold and diminishes the voices of more than 3.4 million voters that don’t feel at home enough to register in either party.

New York needs to change, but it won’t happen until residents can choose from a diversified list of candidates who truly represent their voice — instead of begrudgingly selecting between the lesser of two evils on a ballot. There are ways to do this, and, in turn, create a more accessible, equitable, and democratic government for us all.

RCV ensures the most popular candidate wins while making sure candidates are seeking the broadest support — not just catering to the extremes.

Preventing 3.4 million voters from participating in primaries results in candidates selected by the extremes. We can do better.
