Get ready for a scorcher, Britain. After a dreary start to July, it looks like we're in for a treat with a mini-heatwave on the horizon. The Met Office hints that a "ridge" of high pressure is set to bring us some much-needed sunshine by week's end.

And the weather boffins at Exacta Weather are chiming in with even hotter predictions, suggesting that the rising mercury could herald a sizzling heatwave.

Despite a damp weekend that saw most areas drenched, we can expect the temperatures to bounce back by tomorrow, Tuesday, July 9. Hold onto your ice lollies, as Exacta Weather forecasts an even toastier Thursday (July 11), with parts of the UK potentially basking in mid to high 20s.

And from Tuesday onwards, the temperature could soar into the 30s thanks to the building high pressure, reports the Daily Star.

Exacta Weather says: "From in and around Thursday/Friday (1112 July) and into next weekend, we will see high pressure becoming more influential on our overall weather pattern, and this will see conditions turning much warmer than of late over several days and will also bring potentially humid feeling conditions for many."

They add that: "These temperatures could easily reach as high as the mid to high 20s in some places and 20C or higher in some other parts further north to begin with during this period in the best of the summer sunshine due to its strength at this time of year (something not showing elsewhere for the majority of last week)."

According to the weather experts, we're on the cusp of a shift that's set to bring us balmy temperatures for the rest of the month and even as we glide into early August.

Exacta added: "What does warrant importance is the high pressure build and possibly extreme temperatures (mid to high 30s) for the days to follow on from this and for in and around July 1617 onwards."

The Met Office has revealed that the drier, brighter conditions are being whipped up by a "ridge" of high pressure, predicting they'll stick around until mid-month. While there might be a few showers here and there, we can expect warm and sunny intervals too.

Their long-range forecast promises that much of the UK will enjoy "pleasant" weather, complete with gentle breezes and plenty of sunshine, though some nights may get a bit "chilly".

They've said: "Many areas should start this period mostly dry as a ridge of high pressure dominates the UK. It should feel pleasant enough in mostly light winds and sunshine, with temperatures generally near average, but some rural areas could experience chilly nights."
