Consultants, engineers and technicians, supported by unrivalled and often unique laboratory facilities make up the Materials Group at TWI. Solving problems from TWI’s member companies at any stage – from initial design, materials selection, production and quality assurance, through to service performance, repair and failure investigation.     🌍 Navigating Materials Performance in the Supercritical Realm We're honoured to introduce our final speaker for the 'Energy Transition - Structural Integrity Challenges' event on 20 September in Aberdeen, Dr Shiladitya Paul, the Research and Product Development Programme Manager for Surface, Corrosion, and Interface Engineering at TWI. Having commenced his illustrious journey with TWI in 2008, after completing his PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgy from the University of Cambridge, Dr Paul stands at the forefront of innovation in materials technology. His extensive experience encompasses the development and application of specialised materials, coatings, and advanced corrosion mitigation methods, with a rich repository of over 100 papers/articles to his name. Beyond his significant contributions to TWI, Dr Paul has cemented his standing in the scientific community through roles such as Vice Chair of the EFC - European Federation of Corrosion, Chair of the 2023/24 symposium on Thermal and Cold Spray Coatings at the AMPP: Association for Materials Protection and Performance Annual Conference, and as a key member and judge of the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology Best Paper Award committee. Esteemed for his expertise, he is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) in the UK and holds the distinguished position of Fellow of IOM3 (Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining) (FIMMM). Dr Paul will be delivering an enlightening talk on, 'Materials Performance in Supercritical CO2 to Aid CCS', a topic of paramount importance as the world gears towards sustainable energy solutions.
