What is the role of advanced manufacturing in the future of clean energy? The complexity of manufacturing components for fusion energy has been a significant barrier to its development. Learn about TWI's innovative approach using hot isostatic pressing diffusion bonding to create robust shielding components for fusion energy. Our team, led by Dr Raja Khan (CEng FWeldI FIMMM) and Dr Alessandro Sergi has successfully joined W and WC blocks with steel cooling channels, using 𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐇𝐈𝐏 𝐃𝐁).
