This years Armed Forces weekend held in Cleethorpes was another huge success! The town welcomed 250,000 visitors to the event and our stand was certainly busy. As gold award holders, we took the weekend to help promote the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, the work and benefits of becoming a cadet and share how we support our own veterans, families of those serving and our reservists. Massive thank you to our team manning the stand from across the refinery, including two of our 1st year apprentices Isaac and Ethan and three Royal Air Force Air Cadets from our partnered school and silver Covenant Award holders the Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire.
What a great day at the NE Lincs Skills Fair, we were once more proud to support the STEM village. Our team were kept busy all day as over 2,000 students visited. Dainora enthralled with our STEM lab where she had designed experiments from volcanic lemons to levitating nails! Out team shared the many fantastic opportunities available not just with Philips 66 but across our region. Thank you to our volunteers on the day Paul Dainora Olechnovic Ruth Russell Jacob David, Laura Mark & Nina and three of our second year CATCH apprentices shortly to join us on site Caitlin, Maddy and Harry!
As Gold Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust holders, we are proud to share that for the third year running we will be to be supporting Cleethorpes ARMED FORCES WEEKEND with a donation of £𝟏𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 and the return of the Phillips 66 Big Wheel, this year situated back at the Leisure Centre end of the beach! We will also have a stand, so please come along and say "Hi!" we will be situated opposite the Knoll, by the Armed Forces Arch. Thank you to the cadets/students from the Engineering UTC Northern Lincolnshire, also Armed Forces Covenant Holders, who will be supporting us on the Saturday. A fantastic action-packed weekend has once again been planned by the Armed Forces Cleethorpes team; fingers crossed now for the elusive sunshine! ☀ 😎 🛩
Last week, Duncan Hammond, Humber Refinery’s Decarbonisation Projects Manager, spoke at Foresight Net Zero in Hull! He shared the benefits that carbon capture will bring to the Humber region and the important role it will play in producing lower carbon products and energy for the future. At the Humber Refinery, we are already producing essential products for the energy transition such as being Europe’s only producer of speciality coke used in EV lithium-ion batteries and sustainable aviation fuel which is supporting the transport industry to decarbonise. Industry has a huge role to play in the energy transition, and technologies such as carbon capture and hydrogen will help to unlock this potential.

Recently, we held a Carbon Capture and Storage Association event at our London office! The panel included Simon Holt our Emerging Energy Manager (Europe) and representatives from Viking CCS, CATCH and VPI . Together we discussed the importance of carbon capture in the Humber region, the opportunities it unlocks and the need to improve the skills gap we face as an industry.

We were honoured to be able to donate a cheque for £8,500 to our local Humber Rescue Team. They are an independent charity established in 1989, and on-call 24/7, they are entirely self-funded and operates solely through the efforts of dedicated volunteers providing rapid search and rescue operations across the Humber Estuary, encompassing 540 square kilometers of waterways including the Rivers Hull, Trent, Ouse and the Humber itself. The fantastic amount was raised through a staff raffle!
