Technical Director/ Expert

Tencent Games’ Venture Lab is looking for a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Technical Director/ Technical Expert. Our mission at Venture Lab is to elevate the potential of Tencent’s portfolio studios and create a long-lasting successful impact on their games. In this role, you will work closely with studio developers, focusing on providing technical-related advisory and support. This position emphasises a collaborative, advisory role, may require travel, and ensuring that our studio partners have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in an ever-evolving competitive gaming market.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with our portfolio companies (minorities and majorities) on their production related issues and challenges, including frequent travel
• Drive quality in a collaborative and constructive way, partner with essential team members to create an organizational structure and processes that allow the team to efficiently produce high quality work on time and on budget.
• Involvement in strategic product planning, franchise and lifecycle management.
• Ensure effective processes are in place for project tracking, including milestone reviews and feedback.
• Prepare and regularly communicate project status information to management· Work on Gaas and innovation promotions.

Qualifications

• An inquisitive mind and understanding of the latest technology in game development.
• Involvement in strategic product planning, franchise and lifecycle management.
• Ensure effective processes are in place for project tracking, including milestone reviews and feedback· Prepare and regularly communicate project status information to management· Work on Gaas and innovation promotions.
• 10+ years experience as a Technical Director or Director of Engineering
• Leadership experience in setting strategic direction. Outstanding organizational skills and ability.
• Experience managing a production team ideally externally—experience with medium-large teams or development studios within the video game industry within one location and globally.
• An understanding of a wide range of project management concepts, tools, and approaches and an ability to tailor methods to meet the requirements of the team.
• Experience delivering multiple high-quality entertainment experiences, understanding the motivations of your player base, and can assess innovation to deliver upon expectations.
