Salary: £37,845 - £48,448 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract / Attachment Until February 2025

Location: Office Base is Salford

Freelancers are eligible to apply for an internal role if they are on a Worker Contract and they have worked continuously for 6 months. Job Introduction

Football Daily is one of the BBCs most popular podcasts. It has been the go-to place for football fans to get the latest football news, debate and big name interviews for the last 17 years! With new episodes released every day of the week, the content is varied, rich and spans all leagues and competitions. Growing Football Daily is a key priority for 5 Live & BBC Sounds as we head into the new domestic season.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Journalist that will take 5 Live's Football Daily podcast to the next level, in terms of content, digital presence and audience reach across multimedia platforms.

Main Responsibilities

The Senior Journalist will originate and produce excellent content alongside our world class talent & producers. The role will require you to contribute original creative ideas that will feed into wider BBC Sport & BBC Sounds departments, bringing the highest quality content production skills which will involve research, technical operations, audio, online and interactive production activities.

Are you the right candidate? The Senior Journalist will play an integral role in the development of Football Daily from an audio perspective, as well as ensuring it's content is shared and maximised across multimedia platforms. You will work closely with 5 Live Sport's Podcast Lead as well as BBC Sounds Commissioning Executives to support the development, commissioning, delivery and promotion of Football Daily content.

You'll love podcasts and spot emerging trends and talent that you'll be excited to pitch to the 5 Live Sport's Podcast Lead & BBC Sounds commissioning team. With a high standard of editorial judgment, content planning, writing ability and production skills, you'll always be thinking about audiences and what they want to hear from the BBC.

You'll also need to be exceptionally organised to ensure multiplatform cross-promotion is achieved, whilst managing new commissions and budgets.. You'll need to be a kind, collaborative and well-organised person as the job requires coordination within the 5 Live Sport team and many other departments.

You will have good interpersonal and communication skills, plus evidence of being collaborative outside of your immediate team.

You'll require experience of coming up with successful strategies to market and grow the audience for a production you worked on.

Experience working with BBC software such as Proteus and iBroadcast etc would be a plus but not essential
