In our fast-paced environment, projects you work on will enhance the features and functionality of our systems which require intelligent development across the layers of our architecture from java applications to our very large PostgreSQL database and react web portal. About The Role

As a graduate full stack developer in the Penta Intelligence technology team, you will over time play an important role in creating, modifying, and extending the core application stack powering our products using Java, PostgreSQL, ReactJS, AWS and related tools & technologies.

The key responsibility of the role is java focussed, to design, code, test, and evolve business critical application logic which in high data volume areas is particularly optimised. Having a well organised and thought through coding style is important. We have a large java codebase so you will be understanding existing implementations and deciding how and where to make changes.

Components involve data collection, ingestion and manipulation, natural language processing, data modelling, technical components like caches and integration with other technologies, data feature and query development and developing access to the data for use cases like our interactive online portal, real-time alerting and insight reporting.

The Team

Our Technology team is a small team of experts who support Penta’s ambitious delivery plans using technology to automate solutions and optimise outcomes, supporting continuous integration and deployment. We are planning to grow the team with the addition of a graduate round of 2 data science and 1 full-stack developer this autumn.

About You

We require graduates with a degree involving software development such as computer science, who are passionate about cleanly structured java code to express logic and functionality, designing data structures, database schemas, and working with SQL.

You will have a blend of software development skills from your degree, business awareness and communication skills.

Having developed in java is an advantage, but we will consider other programming languages as we can help you learn. Having development experience in several languages would also be helpful. We value the ability to describe how you’ve structured your designs and implementations and why.
