Here's a very interesting read for anyone with a focus on the asset and wealth management space. I spent some time over the bank holiday going through this article by PWC "Next in asset and wealth management 2024" and here is a summary of my key takeaways.   🚀 The industry is going through some major changes, driven by things like the pandemic's impact, market fluctuations, and shifting expectations from stakeholders. It's prompting a need for fresh strategies to stay ahead in this fast-paced environment.   📈 Technology is playing a big role in reshaping how things operate. PE News Weekly 📈 📍 SumUp, a London card reader maker, secured a €1.5bn private credit loan led by Goldman Sachs, with other big players joining. The funds will refinance debt and drive global growth. The loan, one of Europe's largest recent private credit deals, is priced at 650 basis points over the benchmark rate. New investors include AllianceBernstein, Arini, Deutsche Bank, Fortress, and SilverRock. 📍Brookfield will invest $1.5bn for a 51% stake in Castlelake, a private credit manager focused on asset-based investments. The deal will expand Castlelake's business, including aviation and specialty finance. Castlelake will retain its independence and leadership. The transaction, expected to close in Q3 2024, highlights Castlelake's strength in asset-based investments. It’s always nice to see lower mid market PE firms successfully raising capital. Yes, fund raising since beginning 2023 has shifted quite strongly into much larger hands making fund raising harder for the smaller funds. As we near the end of the financial year. Most people decide that now is not the right time to move jobs. In my opinion it's always a good time to be in the market. The first step is preparing a CV which stands out. Here are a few tips which can improve you resume in just a few minutes. 1. Start with a Strong Profile: Write a compelling personal profile or summary at the top of your CV. This should briefly outline your key skills, experiences, and career goals. 2. Highlight Key Achievements: Focus on accomplishments rather than just listing job duties. Use quantifiable achievements (e.g., "Met billable KPI's") to demonstrate your impact. 3. Proofread Carefully: Ensure there are no spelling or grammatical errors. Consider having someone else review your CV for a fresh perspective. 4. ✍🏻✍🏻Writing a CV✍🏻✍🏻 Having a clear and concise CV which is formatted well is essential when applying for a job. Below I have included a few of my top tips when it comes to writing a CV. 📝Avoid using tables or fancy fonts as this can make it more difficult to read. Tables can take up space and make your CV more difficult to read. 📝A CV should ideally not be more than 2 pages long as an employer can take around 15 seconds to know whether they are interested. This means that first impressions are key. 📝Using terminology and key words which relate to your sector and roles you have worked in is vital as this is something that the hiring manager will be looking for. 📝When outlining your employment history, specifically when it comes to your most recent employments makes sure you are explaining in detail your responsibilities and achievements within the role. It’s a tough job market right now so here are a few tips on how to be seen and stand out from the crowd:   - Sales is all about numbers – Include your targets and what you achieved on your LinkedIn profile AND your CV. - Include awards that you’ve won on your LinkedIn and CV. - Cold-calling and cold outreach is an important daily activity as a S/BDR. Call or Email the Hiring Manager and let them know that you’ve applied and why you would be a good fit. Qualify the opportunity just like you would a prospect. - Your CV should be clean and concise. Remove irrelevant information and keep within 1-2 pages. UK Inflation @ 2.3%! Not entirely true... UK Inflation Rate YoY came out on Wednesday at 2.3% which includes energy, rent, food and services. As the government has helped control energy prices compared to the initial shock in 2022, we are continuing to see declines in the prices. However, this is heavily skewing UK's overall inflation by reaching -16.7% while all the other sectors still being in the positives. Core Inflation Rate YoY (CPI) we can see that this was released at 3.9%, just under double of the Bank of England's target before reducing Interest Rates. This uses over 700 different goods and services and compares them to previous prices to help calculate the figure above. With using the above, we can see that without the anomaly of energy prices shooting down, England is still no where near the target of 2%, just like USA. The Bank of England need to be careful here to avoid cutting the Interest Rates too early which in turn, could send Inflation spiralling out of control again and repeating the last 2 years (Interest Rate wise). Be on the lookout for the next couple of reports of CPI which will be a solid indicator to whether the BoE will be cutting rates or not. My guess? At best, we will see Q4 this year, especially with election now taking place in Q3. Keep utilising high interest savings and avoid loans if you can! #ukeconomy #ukinflation

M&A provides a fast-track to achieving this goal. The rise of private equity: Private equity firms are seeing attractive investment opportunities in the TIC sector, which is fueling M&A activity. Integration challenges: Integrating acquired businesses can be complex, and it's important for companies to have a well-defined integration strategy in place.   Speaking to active candidates in the market we often hear about how acquisition integration challenges create strain on key people in organisations. This article speaks to what we have experienced over the first half of 2024. Hiring in investment teams across the private equity space has ramped up, which is a positive sign for the broader deal environment. Local and global buyout funds, as well mid-market firms have been active in recruiting both associates and investment managers. Competition for these roles is high, and bulge bracket IB or MBB consulting experience no longer puts you at the top of the hiring list for most firms. Strong financial modelling or commercial DD skills are an expectation of all candidates entering the interview process, and these skills don't necessarily make you a good investor. The main feedback I receive from clients on unsuccessful candidates is that they aren’t able to effectively demonstrate what will make them a standout investor, as well as articulate why they want to make a move into private equity. These are the key questions prospective private equity job seekers must consider in order to stand out from the competition. Private equity is playing an increasingly important role in the TIC sector, according to a recent article by Investec. We are receiving feedback from senior candidates active in the market supports this. In fact the feedback suggests that Private Equity is now one of the key factors driving the senior jobs market place in the TIC sector. The article highlights several trends underpinning Private Equity's growing influence, including:   Consolidation: The TIC sector is seeing a wave of consolidation, as private equity firms look to invest in and build larger, more competitive businesses. Growth through acquisitions: Many TIC companies are using acquisitions to expand their reach and capabilities. Private equity firms can provide the capital and expertise needed to support these growth strategies. Focus on value creation: A senior contact recently told me that data analysis to create marginal gains in efficiency and profitability for clients is the future of the TIC industry.
