Should regulatory agencies like the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, FDA, and the European Medicines Agency disclose inspection findings to the public? The Pharmacovigilance Inspection Metrics Report for April 2021 – March 2022 reveals that the MHRA's compliance team conducted 32 inspections of 30 marketing authorization holders, uncovering 6 critical, 72 major, and 91 minor findings during that period. Questions arise: Should these critical findings be transparent to the public? 📣 New guidance for NHS–Industry Partnerships has been launched today by The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and NHS Confederation today at #NHSConfedExpo. The potential for greater partnership is enormous - particularly in primary care - and analysis shared by Will Browne from CF shows these programmes do improve patient outcomes and efficiency of care. Of interest to anyone involved with clinical trials - interesting example of what Alexion are using in the patient centric approach to clinical trials. Cezary Statuch at Alexion points out the value of using direct feedback from patients to improve the trial. We've seen similar improvements in trials from a decrease in the drop-out rate to a higher level of patient engagement reducing protocol deviations. https://lnkd.in/eCaJ-CnG

A recent report published by Nuffield Trust has highlighted the fact that patients face a “new normal” of medicines shortages as the UK is hampered by supply issues and the impact of the EU exit. The Nuffield Trust, a think tank and a group of academics, funded by the Health Foundation examined key indicators on drug shortages in the UK in the context of global problems with supply chains and the availability of key ingredients. https://loom.ly/GLFNIZQ #drugshortages #activeingredients #supplychain

It’s been an insightful day at the Patient Centricity & Engagement Conference in London. There has been extensive discussion around how and when to involve patient advocacy groups, what companies mean when they say patients (or do they mean advocacy groups), how to overlay the nuances of patient experiences onto clinical data and how can all this improve patient experience and outcomes? At the end of the day, we all know that patients are at the heart of what we do, so how can we bring them further into the process? I’d love to continue the discussion, especially around how patients can be further involved in HTA. #patientadvocacy #patientengagement #hta #patientcentricity
